CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TOOLS
AND EQUIPMENT FOR THE NEW HI- TECH /SPARTAN FIRE
ENGINE IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $68,790.50;
AMENDING THE 2011/2012 EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT
BUDGET; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ENTER INTO PURCHASE AGREEMENTS FOR THE TOOLS
AND EQUIPMENT
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco (City) staff recommends that the City Council
adopt a resolution authorizing the Fire Department to purchase tools and equipment for the new Hi-
Tech/Spartan Fire Engine; and
WHEREAS, upon purchase of new apparatus, related tools and equipment are no longer
included as part of the purchase price; and
WHEREAS, City staff has sought quotes from vendors for the requested tools and equipment
and the list of requested tools and equipment is described more fully on the Equipment Purchase
List, attached hereto as Exhibit A; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of new tools and equipment will maximize the Fire Department's
goal to serve the community in a safe and efficient manner by maintaining a fleet of well- equipped
first line apparatus as well as a fleet of reserve apparatus at all times.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby authorizes the Fire Department to purchase new tools and
equipment as indicated on the Equipment Purchase List, attached hereto as Exhibit A, for the Hi
Tech/Spartan Fire Engine in an amount not to exceed $68,790.50; and amends the 2011 -2012
Equipment Replacement Budget for that amount.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the
purchase agreements for the tools and equipment on behalf of the City of South San Francisco,
subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney.
