CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING
INSPECTIONS OF OYSTER POINT
MARINA SANITARY LAND FILL
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
South San Francisco, California, that:
WHEREAS, the Council has received and considered an
engineering report entitled, "Sanitary Landfill Studies"
prepared by Gribaldo, Jones and Associates (Consulting Engineers
--Soil', Foundation and Geological Engineers) dated March 19, 1971,
which recommended remedial work, and
WHEREAS, the Council has considered the report of the
Director of Public Works that the remedial work has been com-
pleted in accordance with the Engineering Report, and
WHEREAS, the Council desires to provide for periodic
inspections to assure that the remedial work continues to func-
tion within the design recommendations, and repair of any portion
of the work which does not so function;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED that:
1. Periodic Inspections. The Director of Public Works,
not less than twice a month for each month following the date of
this order shall make or cause the following inspections to be
made:
A. Visual Inspection of Perimeter and Slopes.
A visual inspection shall be made of 'the perimeter of
the landfill to determine whether.there is any indication
of slope instability, leaching, or erosion, or presence
of waste material in a position where~it could be c~arried
from the site and deposited in the waters of the bay. If
the Director of Public Works finds any of the foregoing to
have occurred, he shall cause the necessary remedial work
to be done or obtain authorization therefor if same is
required.

B. Chemical Analysis of Bay Waters Adjacent
to the Landfill.
Chemical analysis shall be made of the Bay waters along
the perimeter of the landfill from Station 1 through
Station 11 to determine whether sulfides are leaching
into the Bay waters from the landfill site, and whether
dissolved oxygen and pH standards are being met; and if
he finds sulfides leaching into the Bay waters from the
landfill site, or such standards not being met, he shall
cause the remedial work to be done or obtain authoriza-
tion therefor if same is required.
2. Filing Report.
Reports of the periodic inspections and remedial work
required, if any~ shall be filed with the City Manager
and City Clerk within three days of the completion of
each inspection.
3. City Manager Review and Recommendation.
The City M~nager shall review the reports and recommend
whether further action by the Council is required to
assure that the landfill will be maintained in accord-
ance with the following:
A. Sanitary Landfill Studies Recommendations.
B. Bay Conservation and Development Commission
Permit No. M 71-32 dated June 8, 1971.
C. Water Quality Control Board Standards
4. Amendment.

requirements if needed to accomplish the purposes
described herein.
