HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 5752-1972 RESOLUTION NO. 5752 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION COMMENDING POLICE OFFICERS FOR BRAVERY IN THE PERFORMANCE OF DUTY. WHEREAS, on January 26, 1972, South San Francisco Police Officers Michael A. Morello, Myron R. Sutton and Charles E. Zetterholm, after being advised that two suspects had fired shots at Burlingame Police Officers and escaped in a vehicle, detected the vehicle proceeding north on Airport Boulevard ~at Linden Avenue in the City of South San Francisco, and WHEREAS, Officer Myron R. Sutton, who first commenced pursuit, and Officers Michael A. Morello and Charles E. Zetterholm, who joined in pursuit of the vehicle, continued said pursuit even when they were exposed to gunfire from the pursued vehicle and suffered injuries caused by particles of glass from the bullet-shattered windshields and bullet frag- ments, and WHEREAS, the officers continued this pursuit through roadblocks along Bayshore Freeway toward San Francisco, which resulted in the stopping of the vehicle and the capture of the suspects with the assistance of the Police Department of San Francis co, and WHEREAS, the Council desires to commend said officers for their bravery in the performance of duty; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that said Council does hereby commend South San Francisco Police Officers Michael A. Morello, Myron A. Sutton and Charles E. Zetterholm for bravery in the performance of duty as recited above and does commend to the attention of the citizens of this community the manner in which the officers named performed their duty which is in keeping with the high standards of the Police Department of the City of South San Francisco.
