CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION AMENDING RULE 11.08 OF RESOLUTION
NO. 3486 ENTITLED, "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
ADOPTING PERSONNEL RULES AND REGULATIONS."
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco that Rule 11.08, as set forth in Resolution No.
3486, passed June 4, 1962, as amended, is hereby further
amended to read:
11.08 HOLIDAYS
(a) Ail municipal offices except for police, fire, sanitation
and other departments designated by the City Council or
City Manager shall be closed on the following legal
holidays:
(1) January 1st.
(2) February 12th, known as "Lincoln Day"
(3) The third Monday in February (Washing~on's Birthday
Observance ).
(4) The last Monday in May (Memorial Day Observance).
(5) July 4th.
(6) First Monday in September (Labor Day).
(7) September 9th, known as "Admission Day".
(8) The second Monday in October, known as
"Columbus Day".
(9) The fourth Monday in October, known as
"Veterans Day".
( 10 ) Thanks giving Day.
(11) December 25th.
(12) Good Friday from 12:00 Noon until 3:00 P.M.
(b) If January 1st, February 12th, July 4th, September 9th
or December 25th falls upon a Sunday, said holiday shall
be observed on the following Monday.
(c) If January 1st, February 12th, July 4th, September 9th
or December 2$th falls upon a Saturday, said holiday
shall be observed on the preceding Friday.
(d) Firemen, Policemen and Sanitation employees who have
special work schedules shall be compensated for the
holidays specified in subsection (a) by an additional
day's pay or compensatory time off if the holiday falls
on the employee's working day or day of rest. If the
employee is unable to work on a holiday, which is his
day of work, due to an injury in the course of his
employment, he shall receive the additional day's pay
or compensatory time off provided he does not receive
compensation from other sources.
(e) If an employee is unable to work on a holiday, which is
his work day, because of sickness, he shall be entitled
to be paid for said holiday upon filing with the depart-
ment head a doctor's certificate verifying the employee's
le
sickness on that day or filing a department head's
certificate with the City Manager so verifying. If
an employee is off work because of sickness, on a regu-
lar work day which day immediately follows or precedes
a holiday, he shall file with the department head a
doctor's certificate verifying that he was unable to
work because of sickness or file a certificate made by
his department head so verifying.
