HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 5782-1972 RESOLUTION NO. 5782 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE COUNCIL'S SUPPORT FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION AND COMPLETION OF THE UNITED STATES ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS' PROJECT KNOWN AS "SURVEY OF STREAMS (COLMA CREEK) AT AND IN THE VICINITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISC0, CALIFORNiA." WHEREAS, there are serious flooding problems on Colma Creek in the City of South San Francisco, State of California, and WHEREAS, Colma Creek receives waters from a watershed consisting of approximately 10,000 acres, 6,000 of which are outside the limits of the City of South San Francisco and 4,000 of which are within said limits, and WHEREAS, the flood problem related to Colma Creek affects the said 10,000 acres, highway arterials and industrial areas in South San Francisco immediately north of San Francisco International Airport, and WHEREAS, the United States Army Corps of Engineers has been authorized to study and report on said flood problem under~ the Survey of Streams (Colma Creek) at and in the Vicinity of South San Francisco but require $60,000 in fiscal year 1972-73 and $30,000 in fiscal year 19743-74 to continue said study, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of South San Francisco desires to .have the Federal project by the United States Army Corps of Engineers implemented and completed as soon as possible, and WHEREAS, the California Water Commission has endorsed said project; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that: 1. The City Council of the City of South San Francisco does respectfully urge the Congress of the United States to provide funds in the amount of $60,000 for continuation ® of the Survey of Streams (Colma Creek) at and in the Vicinity of South San Francisco in fiscal year 1972-73 and $30,000 for said purpose in fiscal year 1973-74. 2. The City Council of the City of South San Francisco does hereby support the implementation and completion of the Federal project by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, known as "Survey of Streams (Colma Creek) at and in the Vicin- ity of South San Francisco, California." I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 22nd day of February , 19 72 , by the following vote: AYES, COUNCILMEN Patrick E.
