CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING ASSISTANT
CHIEF OF POLICE AUGUSTINE A. TERRAGN0
AND EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
ANDREW P. RODONDI.
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco that:
WHEREAS, Augustine A. Terragno, Assistant Chief of Police,
and Andrew P. Rodondi, Equipment Maintenance Supervisor,
share an abiding concern about the environmental quality of
the air we breathe, and
WHEREAS, Chief Terragno and Mr. Rodondi conceived and
developed an experimental program utilizing propane, gas in
lieu of gasoline in selected police cars operated by the
South San Francisco Police Department in order to achieve a
more wholesome atmosphere, and
WHEREAS, the Pargas Company was solicited and did donate
a major financial contribution to begin the experimental program,
and
WHEREAS, this program has now been in existence since
January of 1971, and
WHEREAS, the program has proven to be effective in reducing
the pollutants excoriated from the selected vehicles while
simultaneously diminishing important net operating costs to
the Police Department of this City, and
WHEREAS, other local and state agencies have expressed
great interest in this program;
NOW BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
South San Francisco that Augustine A. Terragno and Andrew P.
Rodondi be congratulated for their outstanding efforts to
achieve the common goal of improving the quality of our
environment.
