WHEREAS, citizens of South San Francisco will be called upon to affirm or disaffirm Proposition A on the June 6, 1972, Primary Election ballot, and WHEREAS, Proposition A asks: "Shall the California Toll Bridge Authority be permitted to construct the southern cross- ing bridge without further specific approval by the California Legislature?", and WHEREAS, Proposition A subtly disguises the reality that a mandate vote would locate the southern bridge at India Basin in the Hunters Point region of San Francisco, and WHEREAS, this location would be inimical to land manage- ment, Bay Area Rapid Transit, and the ecological preservation of the Bay, and WHEREAS, South San Francisco and other North San Mateo County cities have consistently supported Sierra Point as the most logical site for a southern bridge, if any bridge must in fact be built; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that this Council does oppose the passage of Proposition A and urges this City's electorate to do likewise. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at an adjourned reoular meeting held on the 27th day of April , 19 72 , by the following vote: AYES, COUNCILMEN Patrick E.
