HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 5850-1972 RESOLUTION NO. ~6n CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION HONORING THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF SONS OF ITALY IN AMERICA #1956. WHEREAS, Alessandro Volta Lodge, Number 1956, as a member of the order of the Sons of Italy in America, now celebrates its 2$th Anniversary, and WHEREAS, the lodge found its origin from the inspiration of Alessandro Volta, an Italian inventor who discovered the principle of electric currents and subsequently devised what is now the modern day battery, and WHEREAS, the Sons of Italy is devoted to the preservation of Italian culture and a communal interest in the members of its fraternal interlinkage, to wit: the collection of monies for scholarships for descendants of the lodge's members, and WHEREAS, June 3 has been set aside by Alessandro Volta Lodge to celebrate the remembrance of Volta, greens, vino and all else that is Italian; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that this Council does join in the moments of celebration in reflection of the 2$th Anni- versary of Sons of Italy in America.
