CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION APPROVING MEMORANDUM
OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN EMPLOYER
AND EMPLOYEE REPRESENTATIVES -
VTN AGREEMENT.
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco that the Memorandum of Understanding entered
into as of the 26th day of June, 1972 between employer repre-
sentatives and employee representatives, providing for bad
faith severance pay and other matters therein recited, which
is designated Exhibit "A", attached hereto and made a part
hereof, has been duly considered by the Council and the Council
does hereby approve said Memorandum of Understanding.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was
regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the
City ~of South San Francisco at a spec~a~ meeting held
on the 28th day of June , 19 72 , by the
following vote:

EXHIBIT A
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
THE UNDERSIGNED employer and emp I oyee representat Ives acknowledge and
affirm that they have met and cnferred In good faith, exchanged proposals and
counter proposals, and in all respects fulfilled, their obligations under law to
meet and confer regarding the matters hereinafter set forth, acceptance and
approval of which the representatives agree to recommend to their principals,
the City Council of the City of South San Francisco and the employees' of the
Clty of South San Francisco.
I. That Clty and VTN amend the existing agreement or by supplemental
provide for bad faith severance pay as follows:
A. A minimum of one month if there is a bad faith serverance
within the first year. The said one month, plus two days
for each month in the second year of employment for a bad
falth severance in the second year. The amendment of the
· agreement or the supplemental agreement shal I run for two
years after execution, unless .City terminates its basic agree-
ment with VTN, in which event the amendment or supplemental
agreement shall then terminate.
B The amendment to the agreement between City and VTN or supple-
mental agreement mentioned above shall apply to the following
persons: Louis H. Goss, Raymond Maxwell, Alan Kelly, Thomas
Moore, What Tan and Ray Chan.
C. If this proposal meets with the approval of the employee repre-
sentatives, the implementation of same shall be provided for in
a separate memorandum of understanding between Clty and
employee representatives.
D. City shall determine that valid offers have been made to
the above-named persons including review of employee records and
books as offered by the VTN representatlve, Mr. Fred Hull.
2. The Engineering draftsman position shall be included in Civil Service.
',IN WITNESS WHEREOF the parties hereunto have executed this Memorandum
of Understanding in the City of South San Francisco, California, as of this
26thday of June, 1972.
