CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION REGARDING PROPOSED
COLMA CREEK IMPROVEMENT LOCAL
PROJECT - 1972.
WHEREAS, the Council has received and considered the
proposal entitled "Colma Creek Improvement Local Project -
1972" and the Colma Creek Project Description, copies of
which are on file in the office of the City Clerk, and
WHEREAS, the Council desires to authorize the staff to
meet with representatives of the County Flood Control District
and the cities and other agencies within said District for
the purpose of obtaining approval of the proposed project
and methods of furthering same;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of South San Francisco that:
A. The Council does approve the submission of the Colma
Creek Improvement Local Project- 1@72 and the Colma Creek
Project Description (copies of which are on file in the
offices of City Clerk and Department of Ecological Development)
to the San Mateo County Flood Control District and the cities
and other agencies included within said District for the pur-
pose of obtaining approval to proceed with the project on the
following conditions:
1. The City of South San Francisco act as the administering
agent.
2. Ail cities contribute to the local cost in proportion to
the zones of benefit which is understood by the City
Council to be the 3:2:1 ratio.
3. The design criteria for the project be for the discharge
similar to that of the Corps of Engineers design; namely,
in excess of a 5100 c.f.s, discharge.

4. Staff proceed immediately to assist Senator Arlen
Gregorio in the preparation of his Emergency Legislation
which will allow for the implementation of a local project
as sponsored by the Colma Creek'Flood Control Zone.
5. The right-of-way for Colma Creek channel be dedicated to
and accepted by the County of San Mateo.
6. The maintenance of the channel facility to become the
responsibility of the San MateO County Flood Control
District.
7. The City of South San Francisco's liability with regard
to the construction of the channel would not be increased
because of the initiative shown by the City Council of the
City of South San Francisco in initiating this project.
B. Upon obtaining said consensus the staff shall proceed
to develop methods of implementing said project .for recommenda-
tion to the City Council.
C. The Council further authorizes the staff to confer
with Federal and State officials for the purpose of developing
sources of funds to aid in the implementation of the proposed
project.
D. The Council authorizes the staff to propose legisla-
tion which will aid in the completion of the project.
E. The Council directs that staff make periodic reports
to the Council regarding progress made so that the Council
may further consider authorizing performance of the project
by the City of South San Francisco for the San Mateo County
Flood Control District.
