HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 5987-1972RESOLUTION NO. 5987 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RECOLUTION URGING CONSIDERATION 'OF LEGISLATION AFFECTING CORPS PROJECTS - PROPOSED COLMA CREEK PROJECT. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of South San Francisco has undertaken a review of the progress and direction of the current study by the United States Army Corps of Engineers for the Colma Creek Project, and WHEREAS, the Council, having thoroughly considered the matter, desires to recommend as hereinafter set forth; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco: 1. That the Congress and particularly the cognizant Appropriations Committees of both Houses thereof be most strongly urged to provide adequate funding for the preparation of the Colma Creek Project plans, and 2. That the Congress is further urged to consider and favorably act upon legislation governing projects of the United States Army Corps of Engineers which legislation would accomplish these two objectives: (a) allow local public interests to pro- tect their lands and people during any interim period prior to Federal work by making improvements, and (b) encourage local initiative and self help by deeming such first-state improve- ments constructed by local interests to be a local contribution to and a part of the project and not as having an adverse effect upon the benefit cost ratio of such project. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 4th day o'~f December 19 72 , by the following vote: AYES, COUNCILMEN I1 NOES ~ ABSENT ~ " Patrick E.
