A RECOLUTION URGING CONSIDERATION
'OF LEGISLATION AFFECTING CORPS
PROJECTS - PROPOSED COLMA CREEK
PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco has undertaken a review of the progress and direction
of the current study by the United States Army Corps of Engineers
for the Colma Creek Project, and
WHEREAS, the Council, having thoroughly considered the
matter, desires to recommend as hereinafter set forth;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of South San Francisco:
1. That the Congress and particularly the cognizant
Appropriations Committees of both Houses thereof be most
strongly urged to provide adequate funding for the preparation
of the Colma Creek Project plans, and
2. That the Congress is further urged to consider and
favorably act upon legislation governing projects of the United
States Army Corps of Engineers which legislation would accomplish
these two objectives: (a) allow local public interests to pro-
tect their lands and people during any interim period prior to
Federal work by making improvements, and (b) encourage local
initiative and self help by deeming such first-state improve-
ments constructed by local interests to be a local contribution
to and a part of the project and not as having an adverse effect
upon the benefit cost ratio of such project.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was
regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of
the City of South San Francisco at a regular
meeting held on the 4th day o'~f December
