CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING REASONABLE
COSTS OF STORAGE, CARE, AND CUSTODY
OF ABANDONED SHOPPING CARTS.
W~EREAS, the condition of abandoned shopping carts.
upon public streets and highways within the City of South San
Francisco has become of serious concern, and
WHEREAS, the collection and storage of shopping carts
abandoned upon public and private property consumes great
amounts of City work force time, and
WHEREAS, City facilities are inadequate for housing
shopping carts for any duration of time;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Police Department
and other interested departments be authorized to charge the
true owner Six Dollars ($6.00) per shopping cart for storage
costs, subsequent to 1) notification of City possession to
the true owner, and 2) failure by the true owner to make
claim and take possession within five (5) days' notice as
prescribed by ordinance.
