HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 6230-1973RESOLUTION NO. 6230 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION APPROVING MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO POLICE ASSOCIATION FOR UNIT NO. 7 BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the Memorandum of Understanding for fiscal years 1973-74 and 1974-75 with the South San Francisco Police Association for Unit No. 7 having been entered into between the employer representatives and employee representatives, and having been duly considered by the Council, the Council does hereby approve said Memorandum of Understanding for fiscal years 1973-74 and 1974-75, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A. Mirri and Warren $TeinkamD NOES, " None AB SENT," None ATTEST: City '~ll iI] ! lilll~T MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING South San Francisco Police Association for Unit No. 7 The City of South San Francisco, and the South San Francisco Police Association for Unit No. 7 acknowledge and affirm that they have met and conferred in good faith, exchanged proposals and counter proposals, and in all respects fulfilled their obligations under law to meet and confer on all subjects appropriate to this process. As a result of the Meet and Confer process, the parties have reached an understanding which the City nego~tia- tors have agreed to recommend to the City Council for acceptance and approval, and which the representatives of the South San Francisco Police AssociatJ. on for Unit 'No. 7 have agreed to recommend to their~ general membership for acceptance and approval as follows: 1. SALARY INCREASES. Salaries shall be increased as follows: Five percent (5%) effective July 1, 1973. 2. HEALTH PLAN AND PREMIUMS. On or before the 1st day of January, 1974, City shall provide that the following plans be available for employee's selection: A. The Kaiser S Plan (designated new plan) in place of the Kaiser B Plan (designated old Plan). The premium cost shall be paid as follows: City' shall pay the premium cost not to exceed Seventy Dollars ($70.00) per month per employee or 'employee and dependents. B. The Blue Shield Group Plan (designated new plan) in place of the Blue Cross Group Plan~ (designated old plan). The premium cost shall be paid as follows: City shall pay the premium cost not to exceed Seventy Dollars ($70.00) per month per employee or employee and dependents~ 3. DENTAL PLAN AND PREMIUMS. On or before the 1st day of January, 19 74, City shall provide the following plan: California Dental Service, UCR (designated new plan). The premium cost shall be paid as follows: City shall pay the total premium cost not to exceed Twenty Dollars ($2~00) per month per 'employee or employee and dependents, said plan to include orthodontia. -2- 'Ill III: f III~I I~I~II 4. VACATIONS. Employees with continuous service for twenty-five years as of January 1, 1974, and employees who thereafter accrue twenty-five years of continuous service shall be granted twenty-five (25) days annual vacati°n leave. 5. LIKE WORK FOR LIKE PAY. - Effective upon date of execution of this agreement, an employee assigned to the duties of a first-line super- visor or above shall be paid the salary of the position he performs. First-line supervisory employees and above assigned to -the duties of a higher classification shall not be paid the salary of -that higher classification unless they serve in that capacity for thirty days or more, in whicl~ event they shall receive the pay of the higher classi- fication commencing with the first day of said thirty-day service. 6. SOCIAL SECURITY. City and employees shall, consider a proposal to discontinue Social Security coverage with no .final action being taken regarding said discontinuance unless same is approved by a vote of all the employees included irt Social Security. If the employees approve (]iscontinuance of the Social Security coverage then upon discontinuance the full 1/50th retirement formula shall be implemented. -3- ~ III 'l]/llll I,ill 7. INFORMAL LEAVE CttRISTMAS E.VE AND NEW YEAR'S EVE' Four hours in£ormal leave on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve shall be granted employees subject to this memorandum of understanding. 8. RETIREMENT PLAN. The salary range of the Police Technician Shall~ be adjusted one (1) step equivalent to a 2~% adjustment, in addition to the salary increase hereinbefore provided.
