WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of South San Francisco has duly considered the following: 1. The Mayor of Pacifica's letter dated July 25, 1974, to Senator George R. Moscone proposing the development of the federal, county and city correctional facility to be constructed within the San Francisco City limits, and the ultimate abandonment of the San Francisco jail. facility in San Mateo County; 2. Congressman Leo Ryan's formation of a committee for the selection of a site in San Francisco,with Supervisors Dianne Feinstein and Jean Fassler serving as co-chairmen; 3. The availability ~of federal funds which may be claimed for the project if expeditious action is taken; 4. The innovative nature of the project which provides a facility with maintenance and operating costs shared by the participating governmental units; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to respectfully solicit the support of Senator George R. Moseone therefor; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the Council does hereby: 1. Declare its support for the proposed San Francisco correctional facility and the ultimate abandonment of the San Francisco jail facility in San Mateo County. 2. Respectfully request that Senator George R. Moscone: (a) Lend his support to the Project which will benefit the respective particiPating, governmental units and the residents of San Francisco and North San Mateo County; (b) Advise the interested Cities, San Francisco, Pacifica, Daly City, San Bruno, Brisbane, Colma, Milbrae, Burlingame and South San Francisco, regard- ing further action available to make the project a reality· 3 . That the City Clerk send a copy of this Resolu- tion to Senator George R. Moscone and the Mayors of the respective Cities above-named· I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a reKular meeting held on the 19th day'of 'AUKUSt' by the following vote: ,1@74, · AYES, COUNCILMEN Richar'd' A".~'Batta~gli'a',~F..'Fr'an'k Mammini, Terry J.
