CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION CONCURRING WITH FINDINGS 1
THROUGH 4 AND RECOMMENDATIONS 1 AND 2
DIRECTED TO CITIES AND SPECIAL FIRE DISTRICTS OF
THE 2011 -2012 SAN MATEO COUNTY CIVIL GRAND JURY
REPORT OF FEBRUARY 15, 2012, ENTITLED, "THE
COUNTY, SAN CARLOS, AND CAL -FIRE, A MISSED
OPPORTUNITY ?"
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco (City) staff has received and reviewed the
2011 -2012 San Mateo County Civil Grand Jury ( "Grand Jury ") Report entitled, "The County,
San Carlos, and Cal -Fire, A Missed Opportunity ?" attached hereto as Exhibit A; and
WHEREAS, the 2011 -2012 Grand Jury asks cities to report back to the Grand Jury with
comments on the findings and recommendations on the Grand Jury Report by May 15, 2012; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends that the City Council adopt a resolution concurring with
the findings 1 -4 and recommendations 1 and 2 directed to cities and special fire districts of the
2011 -2012 San Mateo County Civil Grand Jury Report regarding, "The County, San Carlos, and
Cal -Fire, A Missed Opportunity ? ", filed on February 15, 2012; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends that the City Council also include any additional
comments along with the formal written response.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby concurs with Findings 1 through 4 of the 2011 -2012 San
Mateo County Civil Grand Jury Report.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
that the City Council hereby takes no position with respect to findings 5 -18 of the 2011 -2012 San
Mateo County Civil Grand Jury Report.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
that the City Council hereby states, with respect to the Grand Jury Report recommendations
directed to cities and special fire districts, recommendations 1 and 2 have been implemented, and
will be implemented in the future, when applicable.

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by
the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 9 day of
May, 2012 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Mark Addiego, Karyl Matsumoto, and Kevin Mullin,
Vice Mayor Pedro Gonzalez and Mayor Richard A. Garbarino
