To'
Honorable City Council
Subject' Agreement with County of San Mateo to Include the Resurfaclng of
a Portion of Hillside Boulevard within the City of South San Francsico
in the County's Resurfacing Program
RECOMMENDATION'
It is recommended that the City Council adOpt a resolution authorizing execution
of an agreement between the County of San Mateo and the City of South San Fran-
cisco for participation in the resurfacing of Hillside Boulevard within the City
limits. It is also recommended that the City Council by resolution approve appro-
priations for this project.
DISCUSSION-
The portion of Hillside Boulevard between Stonegate Drive and Lincoln Street
was to be included in the City's Resurfacing Program Project this year.. Upon
review and meeting with County staff at the site, it was determined that it
was advantageous to include the Hillside Boulevard resurfacing between Stonegate
Drive and Lincoln Street in the County's Resurfacing Program. The reasons
being the irregular configUration of the City boundary lines in this area,
the proximity of the County's project and the difficulties of providing adequate
traffic control for the area within the City if treated as a separate project.
Attached is a copy of the agreement, which 'is being required by the County to
include our work in their project. Also attached is a sketch showing the area
of work.
FUNDING-
It is recommended that the City Council appropriate $6,500 from the Gas Tax.
Fund to allow the County to improve Hillside Boulevard from Chestnut Avenue
to Lincoln Street in their project.
