December 17, 1 975 EXHIBIT "A" TO
RESOLUTION NO. 206-75
TO: Honorable City CounCil
Subject: Agreement with South San Francisco Scavenger Company Fixing Rate for
Disposal of Sludge and Grit from Sewage Treatment Plant
ACTION: Resolution
RE COMM E N DAT I ON:
It is recommended that the City Council adopt a resolution authorizing the City
Manager to execute an Addendum Agreement with the South San Francisco Scavenger
Company for disposal of sludge and grit from the Sewage Treatment Plant. It is
also recommended that the City Council by resolution approve appropriations for
th i s proj ec t.
DISCUSSION:
The South San Francisco Scavenger Company in their letter of November 26, 1975,
copy attached, has requested an increase in the rates for the disposal of sludge
and grit from the Sewer Treatment Plant. The City presently pays $28.54 for each
load dispensed by the scavenger ~company and the proposed rate is $71.34 per load.
The sludge and grit consists of insoluable material such as mud, sand, plastics,
metal, etc. that cannot be treated at our plant.' Therefore it is n~cessary for the
material to be disposed of at a disposal site. Since November 1970 the City has
been paying $28.54 per load to the South San Francisco Scavenger Company to dis-
pose of the material at the Colma Dump.. The Colma Dump is no longer available to
accept-this material.-The nearest disposal site is at Menlo Park. The increased
distance to Menlo Park plus-the dump fee per load accounts for the rate increase.
The staff has reviewed the proposed rate and found it comparable to the disposal
cost of neighboring cities.

13,-4399-,.333,-54 of-$7}500 from P~rsonal Services-Program No. 333, 334 and 335.
