HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 21-1976RESOLUTION NO. 21-76 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA · A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING KQED WEEK IN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO--APRIL 3RD THROUGH APRIL 11, 1976 WHEREAS, Public Broadcasting Station KQED, Inc. has served the citizens of South San Francisco as well as millions of other northern California residents since 1954; and WHEREAS, these KQED services include notable cultural programs involving local, national, and international artists and performers; public affairs programs with full and complete examination of critical issues affecting citizens of South San Francisco; comprehensive television presentation of state and national political candidates and representatives; access to media by a wide variety of specialized groups including ethnic minorities; adult education and quality televised instruction for school children; and WHEREAS, KQED has also produced distinguished programs for viewing throughout the entire United States, which programs have reflec'ted favorably upon all of Northern California; and WHEREAS, these services have been dependent upon the KQED Auction and Membership contributions for funding and hence such support should be encouraged; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that April 3,1976 through April 11, 1976, be declared KQED Week, and that all citizens of South San Francisco be especially urged to support KQED, Channel 9, during that week, and that those citizens who contribute to KQED are hereby commended for their support of this worthy civic enterprise.
