RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBI,ICATION DF NOTICES
FOR PUBI.IC HEARING ON PROPOSED A~END~iENT TO THE
COOPERATION AGREEb{ENT BET~EEN ~IE CITY OF SOlrri!
SAN FRANCISCO AND IIOIlSING AIITIIORITY OF THE CITY
OF SOU~! SAN FRANCISCO
~EREAS, it is the policy of this locality to eliminate substandard and other
inadequate housing, to prevent the s~read of slums and blight, and to realize as
soon as feasible the goal of a decent home in a suitable living envtrmment for all
of its citizens; and
~EREAS, under the provisions of the United States HouSing Act of 1073. as
·mended, (herein called the "Act") the l~epartment of Housing and Urban Development
(herein called '~UD") is authorized to provide financial assistance to local public
housing agencies (hereinafter called "Local Authority") for undertaking and carrying
out preliminary planning of lo--rent housing projects that vrlll assist in meeting this
gOal; and
~EREAS, pursuant to Section 5(e) of the Act, as amended, it is necessary in
order to obtain Federal financial assistance for lo--rent housing that the local go-
verning body enter into a Cooperation Agreement with the Local Authority providing
for local cooperation in connection with such housing projects; and
tfliEREAS, pursuant to Section 34515 of the Health and Safety Code express Authority
is given for local governing bodies to enter into agreements with housing authorities
providing for local cooperation with respect to lo.-rent housing projects; and
~EREAS, Section 34518 of the California Health and Safety Code provides that
prior to entering into a Cooperation A~reement with a Nousing Authority, the governing
body of any State public body shall hold a public hearing for the purpose of giving
interested persons an opportunity to be heard as to whether such Cooperation Agreement
shall be entered into; and such section of the mentioned Code further provides that
notice of such hearing shall be published once a week for at least t~o weeks prior to
--the date of the hearing, in a newspaper of general circulation; end
~t~REAS, the City of South San ~rencisco (hereinafter called "City") entered into
a Cooperation Agreeamnt d~ted April ~, 1972, with the Housing Authority of the City of
South San ~rancieco providing for local cooperation in connection with the
of d~elling units for living &ccommdations for persona of lo~ income to be loeeted ia
the City of S~ath Sen Francisco; and
