CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF CITY OF SAN MATEO
POLICE DEPARTMENT EMERGENCY SERVICES COMMUN-
ICATIONS TRAINING CENTER FOR DISABLED VETE _PJkNS
WHEREAS, the City of San Mateo Police Department is proposing
the establishment of an Emergency Services Communications Center in the
City of San Mateo to provide classroom instruction, simulator training,
and on-the-job training for disabled veterans and other handicapped
persons; and
WHEREAS, such persons have the potential to be effective, career-
oriented emergency services communicators; and
WHEREAS, such a center will provide training for, and therefore
increase the career opportunities of disabled veterans and handicapped
persons in a career field where there exists a continuous, nationwide
demand for well-train6d persons; and
WHEREAS, funding is anticipated from a Combination Of several
federal and state funding sources to be supplemented by commitment from
the City of San Mateo; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to demonstrate local interest in, and
support for the proposal to establish a training center (although no
financial support is being requested from local sources);
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of South San Francisco, California, that the Council:
1. Supports this proposal for a National Emergency Services
Communication Training Center to be certified by appropriate law enforce-
ment 6nd state agencies and to be accompanied by a rigorous placement
program.

2. Would look favorably toward hiring such disabled veterans
and handicapped persons as emergency services communicators upon success-
ful completion of the training program.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly intro-
duced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
at a regular meeting held on the 18th day of
August
