CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND ENDORSING THE NORTH
SAN MATEO COUNTY NOISE ABATEMENT TASK FORCE
WHEREAS, the cities of Brisbane, Burlingame, Daly City, Foster City,
Hillsborough, Millbrae, Pacifica, San Bruno, and South San Francisco are
affected, directly and indirectly, by decisions relating to San Francisco
..
International Airport; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the cities to continue tO
work together and collectively with other agencies and governing bodies
in the determination of the noise abatement and iand use policies sur-
rounding the San Francisco International Airport; and
WHEREAS, the cities strongly support the portion of the State Noise
Regulations which states the following principle:

"Preference shall be given to actions which reduce the impact
of the airport noise on existing communities. Land Use
conversions involving existing residential communities
shall normally be considered the least desirable action for
achieving compliance with these regulations."
(Section 5011 of Title 4 of the California Administrative Code); and
WHEREAS, the Task Force has completed its initial research and made
preliminary findings and recommendations for future action of the Task
Force; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
South San Francisco that the City Council endorses the concept of the
North San Mateo County Noise Abatement Task Force and authorizes the
City Manager and/or designated representatives to proceed with the work

of the Task Force as proposed in the Task Force Policies and Recommendations
Report No. l, as amended September 23, 1976.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced
and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a
z~ga~ar meeting held on the 2o~ day of October
