HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 40-2012 RESOLUTION NO. 40-2012 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO MIDSTATE BARRIER, INC. OF STOCKTON, CA, FOR THE SISTER CITIES GUARDRAIL PROJECT (PROJECT NO. ST1103), FEDERAL PROJECT NO. HSIP - 5177(024), IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $151,790 WHEREAS, City of South San Francisco ( "City ") staff issued a Notice Inviting Bids for the Sister Cities Guardrail Project ( "Project ") on April 14, 2012 and April 18, 2012; and WHEREAS, on May 22, 2012, received three (3) bids in response; and WHEREAS, Midstate Barrier, Inc. of Stockton, California ( "MBI "), was the lowest responsible bidder; and WHEREAS, staff has verified MBI's license status with the Contractors State License Board and verified MBI's references; and WHEREAS, staff recommends awarding the construction contract to MBI in an amount not to exceed $151,790; and WHEREAS, the Project is included in the City of South San Francisco's 2011 -2012 Capital Improvement Program ( "CIP ") and sufficient funds are available to cover the project cost. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby awards a construction contract for the Sister Cities Guardrail Project to Midstate Barrier, Inc. of Stockton, California, in an amount not to exceed $151,790, conditioned on MBI's timely execution of the Project contract and submission of all required documents, including but not limited to, executed bonds, certificates of insurance, and endorsements, in accordance with the Project documents. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the documents on behalf of the City Council upon timely submission by MBI's signed contract and all other documents, subject to approval by the City Attorney. * * * * * I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 27 day of June, 2012 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Mark Addiego, Karyl Matsumoto, and Kevin Mullin, Vice Mayor Pedro Gonzalez and Mayor Richard A.
