BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the ~.',e~orandum of Understanding with Unit 8 - Confidential Employees, for the period June 24, 1977 - June 30, 1978, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by this reference as if set forth verbatim, is hereby accepted and approved. Rodondi City Clerk EXHIBIT "A" TO RESOLUTION NO. 116-77 MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING UNIT 8 - CONFIDENTIAL EMPLOYEES. JUNE 24, 1977 - JUNE 30, 1978 The City of South San Francisco (hereinafter, City) and Unit 8- Confidential Employees (hereinafter, Unit 8) acknowledge and affirm that they have met and conferred in good faith, exchanged proposals and counterproposals, and in all respects fulfilled their obligations under law to meet and confer in good faith. This Memorandum of Understanding is the product of the above- described meet and confer process. Representatives of the City have agreed to present this Memorandum to the City Council for determination and representatives of Unit 8 have agreed to present this Memorandum to their membership for acceptance and approval. 1. Term. The term of this Memorandum of Understanding shall be from June 24, 1977, to June 30, 1978, at which time all agreements,under- standings, provisions and conditions contained herein shall terminate. 2. Salary. City and representatives of Unit 8 agree that negotia- tions of this Memorandum of Understanding commenced prior to jUne 24, 1977, and the parties intended and contemplated that pay adjustments and increases pursuant to this Memorandum of Understanding for fiscal year 1977-1978 would be effective as of June 24, 1977. Therefore, as of June 24, 1977, there shall be an increase of six and one-half percent (6½%) in the base salaries of employees in Unit 8. 3. Work Week. In accordance with Amendment No. 1-75, .Memorandum of Understanding, Unit 8 - Confidential Employees, July 1, 1975 - June 30, le 1977, a work week consisting Qf forty (40) hours, and a companion . . percent (2%) adjustment to base Salaries was established. The work week for all employees in Unit-B shall continue to consist of forty (40) hours with a companion adjustment of two'percent (2%). 4. Holiday_s_. Holidays shall be the same as provided in the-Memoran- .. dura of Understanding approved by' Resolution No. 89-75. on June 30, 1975. 5.. SiCk"Leave.' Sick leave shall be the same as provided in the Memo- randum of Understanding approved by Resolution No. 89-75 on June 30~1975 6. Medical Appointments. Medical appointments shall be the same as provided in the Memorandum of Understanding approved by Resolution No. 89-75 on June 30, 1975. . 7. Family Leave. Family leave shall be the same as provided in the Memorandum of Understanding approved by Resolution No. 89-75 on June 30, 1975. 8. Insurance. Beginning on June 24, 1977, City shall provide each' employee with the following insurance coverage- (a) Medical Insurance. The medical insurance plans existing as of June 24, 1977. (b) Dental Plan. The self-insured program of dental care benefits existing as of June 24, 1977. (c) Life Insurance. Term life insurance, including accidental death and dismemberment coverage in the face amount of Five Thousand dollars ($5,000). (d) Long-Term Disability Insurance. The long-term disability insurance existing as of June 24, 1977. (e) Vision Care. Plan:. Th.e 9ro. up y~sio~ care plan, dated Janu- ary 19.75, designated VSP Plan B, Employee and Dependent, with Ten dollars ($10') deductible 13. Social Security. If a majority of employees now covered by Social . . Security elect"to Withd~a~ from the' Social Security system at a properly held election, the results of which are recognized by the Social Security .. Administrations City agrees to provide the PERS "59 Survivor's Benefits." t4. Vacations. Beginning on June 24, 1977, all employees in Unit 8 shall be entitled to annual vacations without loss of pay in accordance with the following schedule: _ Length of City Service One to ten years,inclusive Eleven to twenty-four years, inclusive Twenty-five years or more AnnUal Vacation 15 working days 20 working days 25 working days 15. Longevity. Beginning on June 24, 1977, City will provide addi- tional compensation, designated as longevity pay, in accordance w}th the following schedule: Length of Service Ten to fourteen years, inclusive Fifteen to nineteen years, inclusive Twenty to twenty-four years, inclusive Twenty-five to Twenty-nine years, inclusive Thirty to Thirty-four years, inclusive Thirty-five to Thirty-nine years, inclusive Forty years and up Longevity Pay per Month $1o.oo $15.oo $2o,oo $30.00 $40.00 $50.00 $60.00 . t6. Administrative Leave. Administrative leave without-loss of pay may be granted at the ~J~scret~on of the C~epartment; he~d with prior .. approval of the' City Manager. 17. Employees Covered.- Provisions of this Memorandum apply only to the employees represented by Unit' 8 - Confidential Employees. 18. Modification. This Memorandum does not modify any provision of the Personnel Rules'of the City except as expressly provided herein. Except as expressly provided herein, all wages and benefits remain the same as they are currently being provided or administered. 19. Dispute. Any dispute over an interpretation of this Memorandum shall be processed in accordance with the procedures set forth in the City's employee 'grievance procedure.
