CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE COUNCIL'S
INTENTION TO PROCEED WITH THE WORK IN
UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICT NO. 2 -
PHASE B-3, AS RELATED TO EL CAMINO
REAL WIDENING (ARROYO DRIVE TO HICKEY
BOULEVARD).
WHEREAS, the City has been advised by the State of California Depart-
ment of transportation regarding its intentions to commence the ~;idening of
E1 Camino Real to six lanes from Arroyo Drive to Hickey Boulevard intersec-
tion in the fall of 1978, and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 589, adopted February 17, 1969, ordered the removal
and undergrounding of overhead utilities along and to either side of E1
Camino Real from the north City limits to the south City limits, to be
accomplished in conjunction with the State's widening projects, and
WHEREAS, the design of the new facilities must commence as sOon as pos-
sible to meet the State widening project schedule, and
WHEREAS, a reliable estimate of the cost of the work and the correspond-
ing determination of the amount of work which City may accomplish with funds
available cannot be made until the preliminary design is complete;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco that:
1. The Council declares its intention to proceed with the removal of
overhead structures, wires and facilities and installation of underground
wires and facilities in Underground Utility District No. 2 - Phase B-3,
exempting therefrom the Pacific Gas and Electric Company tower line, all
as shown in the location map of Area B-3 which is attached hereto as Exhibit A;
2. That a copy of thi~ Resolution be forwarded to Pacific Gas and
Electric Company with the request that said company commence the design of
the underground utility system on E1 Camino Real, scheduling completion
thereof in a time necessary to meet the State's schedule for widening E1
Camino Real, and the Director of Public Services is authorized to furnish
any and all necessary information related to said project to Pacific Gas
and Electric Company.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly intro-
duced and adopted'by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
at a reqular meeting held on the 7th day of DecemJber ,
1977 , by the following vote'
