HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 8-1978 RESOLUTION NO. 8-78 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION AMENDING CLASS SPECIFICATIONS FOR PBX OPERATOR'RECEPTIONIST. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Co~lgcil of the City of South San Francisco that: WHEREAS, Personnel Ordinance 449, Section 3(d) and Section 7, and Personnel Rules and Regulations, Section 4.02, empower the City Council to amend the Employee Classification Plan on the recommendation of the City Manager, as ex-officio Personnel Officer, and WHEREAS, the City Manager, as ex-officio Personnel Officer has pro- posed new class specifications for PBX Operator-Receptionist, said speci- fications embodied in attached exhibit, marked "Exhibit A"; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that new class specifications for the above-descri6ed position be adopted as amendment to the Employee Classification Plan. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly intro- duced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 1st day of February 19 ?8, by the following vote: AYES, COUNCILMEN Richard A. Mirri and Leo Padreddii None None ATTEST- NOES, ABSENT, " City Clerk City of South San Fra/ncisco i EXHIBIT A TO RESOLUTION 8-78 PBX OPERATOR-RECEPTIONIST January 1978 ADOPTED February 1, 1978 DEFINIIION Under ~eneral supervision, to operate a private branch exchange attendant'¢'onsole; to provide general information to the public; to perform routine typing-and clerical work; and to do related work as required. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Operates a private branch exchange cordless attendant console; ' recieves incoming calls.and makes station connections; takes.messages for offices and employees where contact cannot be made; provides ~i'. information to the public concerning the location of various City departments and personnel; provides other information concerning a variety of Citylfunctions and activities; main.tains records on all outgoing calls; checks and verifies telephone charges; performs a variety of routine clerical work involving typing, filing, and related task; trains and assists relief personnel on the proper- operation of the console. - DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Knowl edge of: ' ~'' ' The operation of a private branch exchange cordless attendant console; Modern office methods, practices, and equipment; Correct English usage; Proper telephone etiquette;. and -- Ability to' Operate a cordless attendant console; Perform routine clerical duties; Type at a rate of 35 words per minute; Train and assist relief personnel in the operation of the · · · · c~nsol e; Speak clearly over the telephone and apply proper English usage; Understand and carry out oral and written directions Establish and maintain courteous, effective, and cooperative relationships with the public and-other City employees. and Experience' One year of experience in the operation of a private branch exchange cordless attendant console,preferably including or, suppleniehted by some general -clerical experience. and Education' E, quivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
