HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 54-1978RESOLUTION NO. 54-78 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION COMMENDING STEVE KURGAN. WHEREAS, Steve Kurgan on March 27, 1978, upon observing smoke emitting from a residence across the highway from his place of employment, did immediately cross the highway at sub- stantial personal risk to investigate the source of the smoke and determine whether the safety of any persons was endangered, and WHEREAS, upon arriving at the premises he found the resi- . dent rolling on the ground with his clothes on fire and exte- rior rear wall of the house and adjoining shed on fire, caused by gasoline in a lawn mower tank ignited by a propane torch which had been tipped over, and WHEREAS, Steve Kurgan assisted the victim in extinguishing his burning clothing and then proceeded to the rear wall of the house and the adjoining shed and extinguished that fire with a garden hose, and WHEREAS, Steve Kurgan performed these courageous acts with- out regard for his own personal safety and the City Council desires to commend him; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco. that the members of the City Council do hereby commend Steve Kurgan for his courageous acts which contributed to the personal safety of a fire victim and pro- tected a residential premises from further damage by fire.
