HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 143-1979RESOLUTION NO: 143-79 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION DETERMINING MATTERS RELATED TO CANDIDATES' STATEMENTS (QUALIFICATIONS) AND "OTHER MATERIAL" IN ACCORDANCE WITH ELECTIONS CODE SECTION 10012 AND RELATED SECTIONS (GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION 1980) that: BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco 1. Scope of Resolution. This Resolution is r. elated to the determinations regarding word limi- tation for the candidates' statements (formerly designated "Statement of Qualifications",., charges to candidates for cost related thereto, and "other material", as set forth in Elections Code Section 10012. 2. Determination Regarding Materials Related to Candidates' Statement Qua 1 i fi cations ). The City Council, in accordance with Elections Code Section 10012, and related ~sections, hereby determines that an increase in the limitation on words for the candidates' statements shall not be authorized, and therefore said statement prepared in accordance with Elections Code Section 10012 shall be limited to two hundred (200) words, as provided in said Section. 3. Determination Regarding "Other Material". The City Council, in accordance with Elections Code Section 10012 and related sections, hereby determines that "other material" as described in said Elections Code Section (i.e., material other than the candidate's statement), shall not be permitted to be mailed with the sample ballot and voter pamphlet, and therefore no regulations are adopted by the Council with regard thereto. 4. Determination Regarding Prorated Cost. The City Council, in accordance with Elections Code Section 10012 and -1- related sections, ~hereby determines that each candidate availing himself of the services related to the candidates' statements, shall be billed for said services in a sum not greater than the actual prorated cost of printing, handling and translating the candidate's statement, if any, incurred by the City as a result of providing the services, and the City Clerk shall give a written statement to each candidate so informing said candidate at the time the candidate receives the nomination papers from the City Clerk. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a reqular meeting held the 19thday of December , 19 79 .
