HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 146-1979 RESOLUTION NO. 146-79 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING SB 547 (PARKS, RECREATION PROGRAMS, NATURAL RESOURCES -CONSERVATION AND RECREATION AREA ACCESS) WHEREAS, parks and recreation programs vastly enhance our urban environment; and WHEREAS, leisure and open spaces in both urban and rural areas are a necessity to life, since they have a substantial effect on mental and physical health, economic productivity and social problems; and WHEREAS, recreation programs can particularly aid in the amelioration of problems such .as juvenile delinquency and senior citizens in transition; and WHEREAS, SB 547 would place before the voters of California a measure to provide funding for acquisition and development of parks, recreation programs, conservation of natural resources, and access to popular recreation areas; and WHEREAS, the proposed parklands program will make available additional recreation areas in and near population centers, which is particularly important as transportation and fuel become more expensive; and WHEREAS, enhancement of parks and other natural resources will have a direct economic benefit to our community and the state as a whole; and more- over, will benefit the health and well-being of Californians; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that: 1. Said City Council hereby records its support of SB 547, and 2. Said City Council orders a copy of this Resolution be sent to the following: Governor Brown, Senators Foran and Garcia, Assemblymen Papan and · McCarthy, the Assembly Committee on Water, Parks and Wildlife and the Ways and Means Committee. I hereby .certify that the foregoing Resolution.was regularly introduced and adopted.by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 19th day of December by the following vote- , 1979 , ,, , AYES' NOES' Councilman l~onald G.
