To. Add Specifications for the Position of: Apprentice Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator; as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto. A~t~tKgi:Lt_EmmU~lp I]. l~lmonte, g,.~ Ntr,q,,p.lA~; -nd r,~unctl'~m..~ Robert'* Cerrt TpgltR NOES: None ABSENT: None ATTEST' .~P~-"~m~. ~ ;~'~~ City Clerk EXHXBXT 'A" TO RESOLUTION NO.. 35-80 ADOPTED 4116/80 City of South San Francisco APPRENTICE WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR APril, 1978 DEFINITION' Under supervision, to assist in the operation of the Sewage Treatment Plant; to assist in the general maintenance and repair of Treatment Plant equipment and facilities; and to do related work as required. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: This class represents a training level for the Treatment Plant Operator series where incumbents may be assigned increasingly responsible duties, with the expectation of evenutally promoting to the Journeyman level class of Treatment Plant Operator II. In addition, incumbents in this class may be assigned to relieve journeyman level Plant Operators as necessary. Incumbents in this class must be, and remain, an indentured apprentice of the Waste Water Stationary Engineers' Apprenticeship Program. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES' Operates and checks the operation of Sewage Treatment Plant equipment; reads .. gages, dials and other instruments and records pertinent data; makes required adjustments as necessary to insure efficient and effective operation of Plant equipment; services and otherwise maintains a variety of Plant equipment in- cluding pumps, valves, motors, filters and related Plant equipment; cleans paints and otherwise reconditions various Plant equipment including motors, · pun~s and filters; assists in lubricati~ng, packing, cleaning, adjusting and making repairs to pumps, motors and control equipment; assists in the preventive maintenance and periodic repair of Plant equipment; cleans and sweeps Plant facilities and performs a variety of unskilled and semiskilled tasks. · DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of:. Elementary principles of sew. age treatment processes; methods, materials and equipment used in the operation;and maintenance of Sewe§e Treatment Plant facilities, and Ability to' Learn to operate, repair and maintain mechanical Treatment Plant equipment; read and record gages and other instruments; keep accurate records of Plant operations; understand and carry out oral and written directions. Indentured App.renti ce: Be an Indentured Apprentice of the Waste Water Stationary Engineers' Apprenticeship Program. License: Possession of an appropriate California Driver's License issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles. -2-
