CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING SENATE BILL 1827
AMENDING THE STATE 'LAWS RELATING TO
PORNOGRAPHY AND THE ABATEMENT OF PORNO-
GRAPHIC MATTER
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of South San Francisco believes
that pornography encourages, stimulates and promotes anti-social behavior;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of South San Francisco is
concerned about the manufacture, sale., distribution and exhibition of
pornographic matter within the City; and
WHEREAS, a large number'of residents of the City of South San Francisco
have voiced their opposition to pornography; and
WHEREAS, existing California State law has made it difficult and often
impossible for local jurisdictions to adequately control pornography; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1827 is the result of proposed legiSlation
drafted by the Kern County District Attorney's Office at the request of the
City Council of the City of Bakersfield; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1827 may provide a means to control the sale,
distribution and exhibition of obscene matter in the City of South San
Francisco and other cities in the State of California; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1827 is a non-partisan bill in which Senator
Stiern and Assemblyman Rogers are lead co-sponsors, and Senator Vuich and
Assemblymen Duffy and Wyman are co-sponsors;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of

South San Francisco as follows:

That the City Council of the City of South San Francisco supports
Senate Bi 11 1827.
That the City Council of the City of South San Francisco commends
Senators Stiern and Vuich and Assemblymen Rogers, Duffy and Wyman for their
sponsorship of~ enate Bill 1827.
That the City Council of the City of South San Francisco urges
Senators Foran and Garcia and Assemblymen Papan, Calvo and Naylor to support
Senate Bill 1827.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly intro-
duced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
at a regular meeting held on the 16th day of April .
