CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION DECLARING RESULT OF SPECIAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD JUNE 3, 1980, ON
AN ADVISORY PROPOSITION CONCERNING THE
MAGNOLIA CENTER BUILDING
that:
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco,
WHEREAS, said City Council by Resolution No. 26-80 adopted March 19,
1980, duly called and ordered held in said City a special municipal election
for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors thereof the advisory
proposition therein set forth;
WHEREAS, said special municipal election was consolidated with the general
primary election held on the same date and was held and conducted on said day
as required by law and said resolution;
WHEREAS, it appears that notice of said election was duly and legally
given, that voting precincts were properly established therefor, that ballot
pamphlets containing a sample ballot, polling place information and other offi-
cial election material were mailed to all registered voters in the City, election
officers were appointed and election supplies furnished; and that in all respects
said election was held and conducted and the votes cast thereat received and
canvassed, and the results thereof made, determined and declared in time, form
and manner as required by law;
WHEREAS, the canvass of votes cast was duly completed and certified to
this Council and the results thereof are as hereinafter set forth;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY FOUND, DETERMINED and RESOLVED, as follows:
1. That said special municipal election was held and conducted in the
City of South San Francisco, County of San Mateo, State of California, on
Tuesday, June 3, 1980, in the time, form and manner required by law.
2. That a canvass of the votes cast in said City upon the measure
thereat submitted was duly held in accordance with the order of the City Council
and in accordance with law.
3. That the proposition voted upon in said special municipal election
was as fol 1 ows:
"ADVISORY MEASURE: "Shall the City of South San Francisco
expend approximately $40,000 to prepare
preliminary structural plans and cost estimates to convert
the Magnolia Center Building into a center for performing arts
and senior citizen activities and submit a special tax proposal
to voters at a subsequent election to pay for such conversion?"
and the number of votes received for and against said proposition in the pre-
cincts established thereof and by absentee voters are as set forth in Exhibit
"A" hereto attached and by reference incorporated herein.
4. That the number of votes cast in all of said precincts for the
advisory proposition voted upon was 4,314 and the number of votes cast in all
of said precincts against said advisory proposit.$on voted upon was 5,346.
5. There were 663 absent voters' ballots received and canvassed in
time, form and manner as required by law, and the result of ballots cast by
the absentee voters was 312 votes for and 351 votes against the advisory prop-
osition voted upon.
6. The total number of votes cast for the advisory proposition voted
upon was 4,626 and the total number of votes cast against said advisory prop-
osition voted upon was 351.
7. That at said election more than one-half (1/2) of all of the votes
cast for and against the advisory proposition voted upon were in opposition of
said proposition and said advisory proposition has been disapproved by the voters
of said City.
8. That the City Clerk be, and is her. eby, instructed to enter this
Resolution in full in the minutes of this Council as a statement of the result
of said special municipal election.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced
and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a
regular meeting held on the 2nd day of July , 1980,
by the following vote'
