A RESOLUTION REGARDING THE PRIORITY PLAN FOR
EXPENDITURE PURSUANT TO THE CALIFORNIA
PARKLANDS ACT OF 1980

BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the Council having reviewed the Staff Report dated
February 18, 1981, a copy of which is attached as Exhibit "A" does
hereby approve and endorse the allocation of expenditures pursuant [o
the California Parklands Act of 1980, to provide 87.3% to the cities
and special park and recreation districts, 9.7% to the County of San
Mateo, and 3% to.the Mid-peninsula Regional Open Space District
: ·
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly
adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at an
adjourned meeting held on the 24th of February, 1981, by the following
vote.

SUBJECT: Priority Plan for Expenditure - California Parklands Act of 19~0
ACTION: 'Resolution
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that City Council approve the priority plan as adopted by the
technical committee of Sam Mateo County. The formula is cities and districts
87.3%, County 9.7% and Mid-peninsula Regional Open Space District 3%.
DISCUSSION:
The County Board of Supervisors appointed Director of Parks and Recreation,
Duane Mattison, to coordinate discussions with local administrators rega~ding
the. allocation of $2,090,145 to San Mateo'County as a result of the passfge
of the. California Parklands Act of 1980. The committee voted unanimously to
approve the standard formula with the allocation of 3% to the Mid-peninsula
Regional Open Space District.
South San Francisco will receive an allocation of $160,412 which would be.
available ~or request after July 1, 1981.
Attached as Exhibit "B", for your review, is a cost breakdown for each
jurisdiction in the County.
The following process will begin with the passage of this resolution:
1. If 50% of the cities approve the formula, it will be
forwarded to State for adoption.
2. Staff will develop priorities for expenditures of funds and
present to Commission.
3. Recommendation forwarded to City Council of potential projects.'
4. Grant request forwarded to State.
If feasible, it is our goal to expend these funds during the 1981-82 fiscal year.

Staff will be reviewing several renovation projects outlined in the Open Space
Element along with the Appian Way Park development as possible projects to be
completed by these funds.
