RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AUTHORIZING FILING
OF AN APPLICATION WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA,
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR A GRADE
SEPARATION FUND ALLOCATION BY THE STATE OF
CALIFORNIA TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION FOR CON-
STRUCTION OF AN OVERPASS OF EAST GRAND AVENUE
AT THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC TRANSPORTATION COMPANY
RIGHT-OF-WAY BETWEEN AIRPORT BOULEVARD AND
HARBOR WAY, IN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO,
AND DESIGNATING C. WALTER BIRKELO, CITY MANAGER,
AS AUTHORIZED CITY OFFICIAL TO ENDORSE ALL NECES-
SARY PAPERS IN CONNECTION THEREWITH.
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco has received authority
from the California Public Utility Commission (Decision No. 92846 ,
dated March 17, 1981 ) to construct East Grand Avenue Overpass over the
tracks of the Southern Pacific Transportation Company in the City of South
San Francisco; and
WHEREAS, all matters prerequisite to the awarding of the
construction contract for the herein described railroad grade separation
project can be accomplished within one year after allocation of funds for
the project by the California Transportation Commission; and
WHEREAS, City funds have been allocated for this project
and sufficient local funds will be made available as the work of the pro-
j~ct progresses;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of South San Francisco, that application be made to California Depart-
ment of Transportation for an allocation from the State Grade Separation
Fund by the State of California Transportation Commission for construction
of an overpass of East Grand Avenue at the rights-of-way of Southern Pacific
Transportation Company.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that for purposes of this request
C. Walter Birkelo, City Manager of the City of South San Francisco,
California, be and he is hereby designated as the authorized agent of
the City of South San Francisco to endorse the herein mentioned application
and to submit the same to the California Department of Transportation;
said authorized agent is further directed as representative of the City
of South San Francisco to conduct all negotiations and conclude all
arrangements necessary for the allocation of said funds.
ADOPTED March 19, 1981 by the City Council of
the City of South San Francisco by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Ronald G. Acosta, Mark N. Addiego,
Gus Nicolopulos; and Roberta Cerri Teglia
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Emanuele N. Damonte
