CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING JULY 4 AND 5, 1981
AS A "WEEKEND OF RECOGNITION'! TO. HONOR. AND
RECOGN I ZE 'THE 'V I ETNAM 'VETERANS
WHEREAS, some 26,000 San Mateo County residents served their Country
in the Vietnam conflict; and
WHEREAS, most of the Vietnam Veterans were not accorded any recognition
upon their return from service; and
WHEREAS, many Vietnam Veterans still carry with them some of the
effects of that service and the difficulties of readjustment; and
WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo in an effort to meet the needs of
the County Vietnam Veterans sponsored a Weekend of Welcome on June 13 and
14, 1981, including an educational symposium and a welcome celebration; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Mateo in conjunction with the County of San
Mateo is sponsoring a "Weekend of Recognition" on July 4 and 5, 1981; and
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco is the home of many of our
Vietnam Veterans; and
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco appreciates and supports the
efforts being undertaken to recognize the services rendered by our Vietnam
Veterans;
NOW, THEREFORE, WE, the members of the South San Francisco City Council,
do hereby designate July 4 and 5, 1981 as a "Weekend of Recognition" to honor
and recognize the Vietnam Veterans, and especially the Vietnam Veterans from
San Mateo County and the City of South San Francisco.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly intro-
duced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
at a regular meeting held on the 1st day of July , 1981,
by the following vote:
AYES: Counci'.,l~en Ron~ld~G. Acosta, Mark N. Addiego~ Gus Nicolopulos;
and Councilwoman Roberta Cerri Teglia
