HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 79-1981RESOLUTION NO. 79-81 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION CREATING THE YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of South San Francisco sees the need for input and advice from the youthful community; and WHEREAS, the youthful community of South San Francisco would benefit by a vehicle for communicatiOn with the municipal government of South San Francisco; and WHEREAS, the City Council believes the~need exists for the issues of youth to be handled in a positive manner with programs, that benefit both the City Council and the youthful community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco as follows: 1. There is created a Youth Advisory Board as an advisory entity to the City Council serving the needs of both the municipal government and the youthful community; and 2. Said Youth Advisory Board will consist of thirteen members of the youthful community in the grades of seven throOgh twelve and living within the City of South San Francisco; and 3. Said Youth Advisory Board shall include a chairperson and two vice chairpersons of the Youth Advisory Board to be selected by the Youth Advisory Board members; and 4. Said Youth Advisory Board shall divide into the sub-committees con- sisting of a seven through eight grade sub-group and a nine through twelve grade sub-group, and that the vice chairpersons of the Youth Advisory Board shall be selected from each sub-committee; and 5. The liaison department for the Board shall be the City Manager's office with staff assistance from other appropriate departments; and 6. The prospective Board members shall apply to the City Manager's office for screening by a staff committee for recommendations and appointment by the City Council and that the initial term of appointment shall be one year for seven seats on the Board and two years for six seats on the Board; and 7. Thereafter all appointments shall be for a term of two years; and 8. The Board shall hold regular meetings at the minimum of one every three months and shall provide in its by-laws, for the time and place for hold- ing such regular meetings; and 9. The issues and agenda of the Board shall consist of those items that are of relevance to the youthful community; and lO. The Council will receive and consider proposals initiated by the Youth Advisory Board; and 11. All other resolutions applyi~ng to a Youth Advisory Council or Board are hereby rescinded, including Resolutions No. 5675 and 5721. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 15th day of July , 1981, by the following vote' AYES' Councilmen Ronald G.
