CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING JAMES CUNNINGHAM
WHEREAS, James Cunningham faithfully served the City of South San
Franc~isco for nineteen years as a Fire Fighter and Fire Captain, demons-
trating leadership and dedication, which contributed greatly to the safety
and welfare of this community; and
WHEREAS, James Cunningham demonstrated effective leadership and was
an inspiration to others while in the fire service, participating in the
Fireman's Olympics, Fire'~F~ighter's Muster Team and as a member of the
Widows and Orphans Association of South San'Francisco and of Union Local
1507; and
WHEREAS, in 1966 after receiving first and second degree burns while
fighting a fire in a flammable liquid vault where an explosion occurred,
he displayed great courage by re-entering the building to completely ex-
tinguish the remaining fire; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of South San Francisco desires
on the occasion of his retirement to commend and express appreciation to
him therefor;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
South San Francisco that the Council does hereby commend and express appre-
ciation to Jim Cunningham for his dedicated services to the City of South
San'Francisco and does order this resolution incorporated in the official
records of the City as this Council's expression of gratitude and its
wishes for a long and happy retirement.

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly intro-
duced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
at a regular meeting held on the 16th day of September
1981, by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Ronald G, Acosta, Mark N. Addiego, Emanuele N.
Damonte, Gus Nicolopulos; and Roberta Cerri Teglia
