CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING ROBERT "BABE" LORENZINI
WHEREAS, Robert "Babe" Lorenzini is retiring on December 27, 1982 after
twenty-seven years and ten and one-half months of service with the South San
Francisco Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, he was first employed by the South San Francisco Fire Department
as a Firefighter on February 16, 1955, and has been a member of the
International Association of Firefighters, Local 1507; and
WHEREAS, he has demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities and was pro-
moted to the position of Fire Captain on June 1, 1966; and
WHEREAS, Robert "Babe" Lorenzini has served as temporary Battalion Chief
and has been an Acting Battalion Chief over the past years; and
WHEREAS, Robert "Babe" Lorenzini has served as the Radiological Defense
Officer for the City of South San Francisco since 1973, and in 1975 he assisted
the Emergency Operating Center in the City of South San Francisco in the
training of all suppression personnel in the use of the Center in the event of a
major emergency; and
WHEREAS, he has served as the President and Vice-President of the South San
Francisco Fire Department Widows and Orphans Association, and as a Police
Athletic League manager and coach in baseball; and
WHEREAS, Robert "Babe" Lorenzini and his lovely wife Betty are the parents
of five (5) wonderful children named Steven, Denise, Nancy, Robert C. and
William; and
WHEREAS, during his twenty-seven years and ten and one-half months of ser-
vice he has suffered burns and injuries at various times while displaying great
courage in attempting fire rescue and extinguishing of fires; and
WHEREAS, he has helped protect the City of South San Francisco for almost
twenty-eight (28) years of service; and
WHEREAS, his dedication to justice, fairness and high morals are in the
highest tradition of the Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to express appreciation to Robert "Babe"
Lorenzini for his contribution to the South San Francisco Fire Department and
the community in general;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that it does hereby express appreciation to Robert "Babe" Lorenzini
for his dedicated services to the City of South San Francisco and does order
this Resolution incorporated in the official records of the City as this
Council's expression and its wishes for his long and happy retirement.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and
adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a r~aular
meeting held on the 5th day of January , 1983 , by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Ronald G. Acosta. Mark N. Addiego, Emanuele N. Damonte,
Gu~ Nicolopulos; and Roberta Cerri Teglia
