A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING AN OFFICIAL BOND
OF FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN THE CITIES OF SOUTH
SAN FRANCISCO AND DOLORES HIDALGO
"HERMANOS AMERICANOS"

WHEREAS, the City of South San Franc~co, Ca~fornia, U.S.A. sincerely wish~s
to promote friendship and understanding among the many ethnic groups within d~
juris dic~on; and
WHEREAS, the Organizacion Internacional Latino Americana has been formed to
assist the community in b~tter understanding our Latin American brothers and
sisters who comprise a significant portion of o~r population; and
WHEREAS, the membership of the Organizacion Internacional Latino Americana has
carefully selected the City of Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Mexico, as a City to
reach out to across the mi~es, mountains, plains and waters, with the hand of friend-
ship to initiate the "Hermanos Americanos" program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dolores Hidalgo, with its modern industries and fields of
corn, wheat, beans, chick peas, ga~c, potatoes, strawb~es and flowers is the
rich result of the dedication and hard work of its citizens; and
WHEREAS, Dolores Hidalgo, as a City, stands as a symbol of Mexican pat~ot~m
where the words "Liberty in Mexico" have echoed through the ages and where many
historic sites remain as evidence of the age old desire of the Mexican people for
liberty; and
WHEREAS, the essence of the "Hermanos Americanos" program is to foster the
sp~ of freedom and progress through the interchange of ideas, experiences and
cu~u~al activities with the resulting promotion of grea~er understanding and un.y;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Councdl, with great pride, hereby
approves and designates the City of South San Franc~co, and its people, as
"H~manos Americanos" of Dolores Hidalgo, Guanaju~to, Mexico.
I h~reby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced
and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco ~ an adjourned re§u]ar
meeting held on the ]]thday of May , I~983, by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Ronald G. Acosta, Mark N. Addiego, Emanuele N. Damonte,
Gus Nicolopulos; and Roberta Cerri Te~qlia
