A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING UNITED AIRLINES'
CONTRIBUTIONS TO SAN MATEO COUNTY,~ GENERALLY,~
AND T~HE~CITYiOF SOUTH~SAN FRANCISCOi'SPECIFICALLY
WHEREAS, United Airlines, the Nation's oldest air carrier, is also the
pre-eminent airline servi~ng and utilizing San Francisco International Airport, and
WHEREAS, the economy of San Mateo County has benefited greatly from the
employment opportunities provided by United and the $260,000,000 payroll generated
by its Maintenance Operations Center, and
WHEREAS, a significant portion of Uni-ted's facilities are located within the
City of South San Francisco, and it is the largest si.ngle property taxpayer withi'n
South San Francisco (7.2% of City's total property tax), and
WHEREAS, South San Francisco has long been cognizant of the substantial economic
benefit derived from United's operations in our City, and
WHEREAS, the City and the Airline have maintained a mutually respectful and
cooperative relationship duri~ng the past several decades,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that it does salute United Airlines on this Recognition Occasion and
proffers its best wishes for continued leadership in commercial aviation in the
United States and overseas.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and
adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular
meeting held on the 18th day of May , 1983, by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Ronald G. Acosta, Mark N. Addiego, Emanuele N. Damonte,
Gus Nicolopulos; and Roberta Cerri Teglia
