CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING MEMBERSHIP IN
THE UNDERGROUND SERVICE ALERT - NORTHERN
CALIFORNIA AND EXPENDITURES THEREFOR
WHEREAS, Government Code Section 4216(a) requires every owner of a
subsurface installation, except the Department of Transportation of the State
of California, to become a member of, participate in and share the costs of a
Regional Notification Center; and
WHEREAS, owners of subsurface installations who are members of, partici-
pate in, and share in the costs of the Underground Service Alert - Northern
California (hereinafter "USA") are deemed to be in compliance with the
foregoing requirement; and
WHEREAS, the provisions of Government Code Sections 4216 and 4217 are
intended to provide a method of coordination of excavation near undergroUnd pipe
lines, conduits, ducts, wires and other structures operated or maintained in or
across a public street or public right-of-way; and
WHEREAS, membership in USA would assist this City in reducing damage and
injury caused by accidental contact with underground facilities and would avoid
disruption of service;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco that:
1. The City shall become a member of, participate in, and share in the
costs of the Underground Service Alert-Northern California.
2. The City Manager is authorized to complete application fOrms, pay
fees and sign the necessary documents to insure that the City of South San
Francisco complies with Section 4216 of the Government Code.
3. During fiscal year 1983-84, the City Manager is authorized to expend
not more than One .T, housand Three Hundred Sixty Dollars ($1,360.00) to accomplish
the purposes set forth in this Resolution.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced
and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a n adji', regular
