HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 104-1983 RESOLUTION NO. 104-83 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION COMMENDING ROBERT PETERSON WHEREAS, Robert Peterson is retiring on July 11, 1983 after thirty-one (31) years of service for the City of South San Francisco in both the Fire Department and the Water Quality Control Division; and WHEREAS, he was first employed by the South San Francisco Fire Depart- ment as a Firefighter on July 1, 1952 and from 1956 to 1957 served as Acting Fire Captain; and WHEREAS, on December 1, 1957 Robert Peterson was transferred to the Treatment Plant as a Relief Treatment Plant Operator and served in this capacity until 1967; and WHEREAS, in 1961 he received the Class II Treatment Plant Certification and from December 1967 to December 1977 he was Plant Operator in charge of maintenance and operations of thirteen pump stations; and WHEREAS, Robert Peterson was promoted to Digester Control Technician in December of 1977 and in January of 1980 he was promoted to Plant Operator I where he has served to the present time; and WHEREAS, he was President of the South San Francisco Employees' Association for a total of nine (9) years, and he is a Charter member and former organizer of the South San Francisco Employees' Credit Union; and WHEREAS, in 1954 he helped organize and became a Charter member of the South San Francisco Widows and Orphans Association, serving as Treasurer for the Association from 1966 to 1967; and WHEREAS, Robert Peterson has demonstrated diligence in all of his efforts, completing courses at Skyline College and a course in leadership given at Mater Dolorosa Church, as well as his participation in a national medical research study on twins at Stanford University; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that it does hereby express appreciation to Robert Peterson for his dedicated services to the City of South San Francisco and does order this Resolution incorporated in the official records of the City as this Council's expression and its wishes for his long and happy retirement. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 3rdday of AuguSt , 1983, by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Ronald G. Acosta, Mark N. Addiego, Emanuele N. Damonte, Gus Nicolopulos; and Roberta Cerri Teglia NOES: None ABSENT: None -2-
