CITY COUNCIL, CiTY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS AND
DECLARING RESULTS OF THE GENERAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF
SOUTH SAN "FRANC ISCO~ON "NOVEMBER '~8,~' 1983
WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election was held in and throughout the
City of South San Francisco on the 8th day of November, 1983, for the election
of two members of the City Council and approval of Measure J, and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk has duly presented to the City Council of the
City of South San Francisco all the returns of the votes cast at said General
Municipal Election, and
returns;
WHEREAS, said City Council has inspected and examined all said
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of said City that
said Council finds as follows:
1, That there were Twenty Thousand Seven Hundred Forty Three (20,743)
registered voters in the City of South San Francisco and that Six Thousand Seven
Hundred Forty Seven (6,747) votes were cast in the City of South San Francisco;
2~ That the names of persons voted for and Measure J as submitted at
said General Municipal Election are as follows:
(a) As regularly-nominated candidates.
Lawrence Pera, Retired Construction Worker Councilmember
Ronald G~~ Acosta, Safety Administrator "
Richard A~ Haffey, Recreation Superintendent "
Roberta Cerri Teglia, City Councilmember "
(b) As write-in candidates:
None ~
(c) Ballot measure, Measure J:
"Shall the Ordinance raising City Council salaries from
three hundred dollars ($300) per month to four hundred
twenty-two dollars ($422) per month be adopted?"

RESULTS OF SAID GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
3. CANDIDATES
{a) That the record of the votes cast at said General Municipal
Election in favor of said candidates as shown by the official count at each of
the several precincts established throughout said City by said City Council for
the purpose of conducting said Election is as shown on Exhibit "A" attached
hereto, the same being a tabulation of the votes by precincts.
(b) That the votes cast at said General Municipal Election in
favor of said candidates for the Office of City Councilmember by absentee ballot
as shown by the official count, and included in the totals set forth in Exhibit
"A", are as follows:

(c) That the totals, including the absentee ballots, of the votes cast
at said General Municipal Election in favor of the candidates for Councilmembers
as shown on Exhibit "A" attached hereto, are as follows'

(a) That the record of votes cast at said General Municipal
Election in favor of Measure J and against Measure J as shown by the official

(b) That the votes cast at said General Municipal Election for and

5. That the City Council of said City hereby declares that Richard A.
Haffey and Roberta Cerri Teglia were duly elected at said General Municipal
Election as members of the City Council of South San Francisco and that Measure
J was defeated''~
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of said City shall, and she
is hereby ordered to, issue Certificates of Election as follows.
To Richard A~ Haffey and Roberta Cerri Teglia as members of the City
Council, and further certify that Measure J was defeated.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly
introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at
an adj. re.qular meeting held on the 18th day of November , 1983, by the
following vote:
