HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 167-1983 RESOLUTION NO. 167-83 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION IN APPRECIATION OF RONALD G. ACOSTA WHEREAS, Ronald G. Acosta has served the City of So.th San Francisco as a member of the City Councdl since April of 1978, and asides Mayor between 1980 and 1981; and WHEREAS, Ronald G. Acosta has been a resident of this City for they-three (33) years, beginning his service in £he City as a firefigh~er and alarm £echnician b~ween July, 1952 and September 1961; and WHEREAS, upon his retirement from the City's f~e department in 1961, in dedication to public service he served as a California Highway Patrolman between 1961 and 1969, and was a member of the California Highway Patrol Association and the San Mateo County Criminal Justice Council; and WHEREAS, in private business he has s~rved this community as an instructor for the San Mateo County Traffic School for twenty (20) yea~s, and for the past five (5) years as the owner and consultant of the Acosta Safe~y Service Traffic School; and WHEREAS, as a concerned member of the City Council he served as a chairman of the San Mateo County A~port Land Use Commission; and WHEREAS, he has dedicated much of his life to public service, serving as the first president of the So~h San Francisco City Employees' Credi~ Union, as the fd~st president of the Sou~h San Francisco F~e. Department Widows and Orphans Association, and serving as the past president for the South San Francisco City Employe~s' Associat~2on and labor negotiator for five (5) yeans; and WHEREAS, among his other accomplishments, he is a Certified Practicing Safety Admin~trator, he holds a California Private In~.,t~ga~or's license, he has obtained a California State Vocational Teaching Credent~, and he has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Sou~h San Francdsco Rotary Club; and WHEREAS, he has a devoted wife, Jean~tte, five children, and several grand- children, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Counc~ of the City of South San Francdsco that it does hereby express ~s appreciation to Ronald G. Acosta for h~ contrib~on to the City's progress and welfare through h~s service as a member of the City Council and his numerous other civic activ~£ies through which he unsel- fishly gave h~ time, interest, and effort to advance this community, and by which he established a high standard of civic conduct worthy of following by those who desire to contribute to the welfare of this community.
