CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING CERTAIN
SALARY ADJUSTMENTS, BENEFITS AND TERMS AND CONDITIONS
OF EMPLOYMENT FOR EMPLOYEES DESIGNATED AS MANAGEMENT
BE IT RESOLVED By the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that:
WHEREAS, the employee classifications listed in Exhibit "A" comprise the
employees designated as Management of the City of South San Francisco:
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that effective July 1, 1983, the
following salary adjustments, benefits and terms 'and conditions of employment
shall be applicable to the classifications listed in Exhibit "A":
1 All benefits and terms and conditions of employment shall be as currently
provided and as summarized in Exhibit "B".
2. All individuals in classifications designated as Management and as set
forth in Exhibit "A" shall receive a.general wage increase of 6.0% effec-
tive upon July 1, 1983. Exhibit "A", as attached, sets forth the salary
ranges which reflect this increase under the column "Base Range" and the
range titled '"Retirement Range".
3. The City Manager shall prepare and present to the City Council recommended
policies on Management employees compensation which shall include:
a. The minimum salary differentials which need to exist between the
salaries established for management employees and the salaries
established for employees in classifications they supervise or direct.
b. The salary and compensation information which needs to be routinely
gathered for use by the City in evaluating the level of compensation
for City Management employees relative to other employers in a similar
1 abor market.
The recommended policies on Management employees compensation shall be pre-
sented to the City Council by the City Manager by such time as will allow
the Council to act upon the recommendations by April 1, 1984.
NOW THEREFORE, it is ordered that:
These salary adjustments, benefits and terms and conditions of employment are
hereby approved by the City Council and shall remain in full force and effect
until subsequently modified by City Council action.

CURRENT BENEFITS FOR EMPLOYEES IN MANAGEMENT DESIGNATED CLASSIFICATIONS
1. .Payment of Employee's Contributi_on to ~PERS-
A. 7% for Miscellaneous Employees
B. 9% for Safety Employees
2. Holidays' 12 Holidays and I Floating Holiday per year.
3. Holiday Pay-
A. Continuous Operation Employees unable to observe
holidays 8 hours straight time for holiday pay
in addition to straight time for hours worked on
the holiday.
B Battalion Chiefs- 10,7% for each full day holiday and
5.35% for each half day holiday in addition to re§ular
pay. .~
4. Sick Leave: 90 Calendar Days per Illness.
5. Medical Appointments- Leave for appointments with doctors and dentists.
6. Emergency Family Leave- Up to 4 Calendar Days per calendar year for
emergency family situations, and up to 3 calendar days per occurrence
for family funeral leave within State of California and up to 5 calendar
days per occurrence outside of State of California. -
7. Insurance'
A. Health: Fully paid health insurance plan for employee and
eligible dependents.
B. Dental: Self insured program in existence as of April l, 1978
for employee and eligible dependents.
C. Life Insurance: Amount equal to employee's annual salary
rounded off to the nearest one thousand dollars.
D. Long Term Disability Insurance: Insurance coverage which provides
amount equal to 2/3 of the regular base monthly salary.
E. Vision Care Plan: Group vision care plan dated January 1975
(.VSP Plan B) for employee and eligible dependents with a $10.00
deductible.

10. .Deferred Compensation- Deferred Compensation Plan made available to City
employees.
11. Physical Fitness Program- Employees are entitled to the following-
A. Use of City ReCreation facilities at no cost.
B. Up to 5 Park & Recreation classes per year at
no cost.
12. Vacation:
I - 4 years 15 Days
5 - 14 years 20 Days
15 - 24 years 25 Days
25+ 30 Days
13. Like Work- Like Pay- Employees assigned to duties of first line s'upervisor
or above shall be paid the salary of the position he/she performs. First
line supervisor'or above assigned to duties of higher position, shall be
paid after 30 days or more, retroactive to the first day.
14. Retirement- Public Employees' Reitrement System-
A. Non-Safety Members = 2% @ Age 60 Formula
B. Safety Members (Sworn Police & Fire) 2% @ Age 50 Formula
C. Fire Personnel- "One- Year"final compensation option
for Fire Management.
15. Retiree Health. Insurance: City shall provide health insurance for employees
on service or disability retirement.
16. Management Administrative Leave- 40 hours per fiscal year.
