CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MARGARET PETTIGREW
WHEREAS, Margaret Pettigrew is retiring from the City of South San Francisco
after twenty one {B1) years of faithful and capable performance of her duties~ and
WHEREAS, Margaret was born in San Francisco and baptised Margaret Mary
Elizabeth Brady by her loving Irish parents~ and
WHEREAS, Margaret and her family decided to make their home in South San
Francisco in 1950, and in Margaret's own words "this is where my life began"~
and
WHEREAS, previous to her Civil Service appointment in 1964 she was introduced
into City Government July 24, 19~$ during her part time employment with the City
Attorney~ and
WHEREAS, upon entering Civil Service on September B$, 19~4, Margaret became
Secretary to the City Clerk. There, her abilities led her to the position of
Deputy City Clerk on August 10, 1971 where she attended and took minutes at City
Council meetings. Upon the City Clerk's retirement in 1975 she was appointed
City Clerk/Executive Secretary, and performed these added duties until August,
1979~ and
WHEREAS, Margaret's talents led to her appointment to the position of
"Executive Secretary to the City Manager" in January of 1974, and she has
capably performed these duties for three City Managers. She also provided
Secretarial assistance to the Mayor and City Council members during most of
this time~ and
WHEREASs over the years Margaret has 8erved as the Secretary to the Colma
Creek Advisory Boards Secretary to the Parking Place Commission~ Assistant
Secretary to the South San Francisco Public Facilities Corporations Recording
Secretary to the South San Francisco Redeuelopment Agencys and has represented
the Confidential Secretaries in wage negotiations~ and
WHEREASs Margaret's fondness of the town she chose to become her home is
euidenced by her participation in the many City events and functionss her ability
to devote her time to City Governments and her interest in people in general~ and
WHEREASs citizens of the community who have come in contact with Margaret
during the performance of her duties have consistently expressed appreciation
for the exemplary manner in which she has represented the City organization to
the public~
NOWs THEREFOREs BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that it does hereby express appreciation to Margaret Pettigrew for her
dedicated services to the City of South San Francisco and does order this Reso-
lution incorporated in the official records of the City as this Council's
expression of appreciation and its wishes for her long and happy retirement.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced
and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a
regular meeting held on the 26th day of September , 1984~, by
the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Mark N. Addiego, Emanuele N. Damonte~ Richard A. Haffey,
Gus Nicolopulos; and Roberta Cerri Teglia
