A RESOLUTION APPROVING GENERAL PLAN
AMENDMENT GP~84-2G PURSUANT TO
PLANNING COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO.
2351 - CIRCULATION ELEMENT
WHEREAS, the proposed amendment (GP-.84-26 ) to the City's General Plan
is set forth in Resolution No. 2351 of the Planning Commission entitled
"Resolution of the South San Francisco Planning Commission Recommending that
that the City Council adopt General Plan Amendment GP-84-26 adding the Gateway
Boulevard ~xtension Project ~ocated between Last Grand Avenue and Sou'~h
Airport Boulevard as a Major Arte~.i~l in the CircL~lation ~nd Tran~p~rtatinn

attached hereto as Exhibit A, and
WHEREAS, on the 6th day of September , 19 84, by Resolution
No. 7351 the Planning Commission of the City of South San Francisco approved
and recommended same to the Council, as set forth in Exhibit A attached hereto,
and
WHEREAS, the Council, pursuant to the Government Code of the State of
California, duly set a hearing thereon for the 26th day of September ,
1984~'~, notice of which was published in the "Enterprise-Journal," a newspaper
of general circulation printed and circulated in the City of South San Francisco,
and which date of publication was more than ten (10) days prior to the date set
for said hearing, and the affidavit of said publication is on file in the
office of the City Clerk, and
WHEREAS, the Council did hold said hearing on said date and did there-
upon consider said amendment and the statements and communications made at
said hearing;
NOW, THEREFORE., IT IS ORDERED THAT:
1. The Council hereby adopts as an amendment to the City's General
Plan the amendment recommended by the Planning Commission in Resolution No.
2351
, designated GP-84-26
, as set forth in Exhibit A
attached hereto, thereby adding the Gateway Boulevard Extension Project located
between East Grand Avenue and South Airport Boulevard as a Major Arterial i'n the
Circulation and ?r'ansportation Element of the General Plan.
2. The said amendment be endorsed as adopted by this Resolution and the
Mayor and City Clerk shall execute said endorsement.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced
and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a
regular meeting held on the 26th day of September , 1984 ,
by the following vote:

RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH SAri FRANCISCO PLANNING COMMISSION
RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL ADOPT GENERAL PLAN
AMENDMENT GP-84-26 ADDING THE GATEWAY BOULEVARD EXTENSION
PROJECT LOCATED BETWEEN EAST GRAND AVENUE AND SOUTH AIRPORT
BOULEVARD AS A MAJOR ARTERIAL IN THE CIRCULATION AND
TRANSPORTATION ELEMENTS OF THE GENERAL PLAN
EXHIBIT "A"
WHEREAS, on September 6, 1984, the South San Francisco Planning Commission
held a duly advertised public hearing to consider this General Plan Amendment; and
WHEREAS, the proposed General Plan amendment is in accordance with Section
65350 et seq. of the California Government Code; and
WHEREAS, the proposed General Plan Amendment will provide a needed north-south
Major Arterial in the easterly portion of the community and will help carry projected
traffic volumes from the Cabot, Cabot and Forbes area and from the Gateway Redevelop-
ment Project to the lO1 and 380 Highways; and
WHEREAS, the project will help relieve traffic congestion problems directly
east and west of the 101 Highway; and
WHEREAS, an Environmental Impact Report has been previously certified for this
project in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act; and
WHEREAS, any effects of the projeCt shall b~ mitigated in accordance with
measures contained in the Environmental Impact R~port; and
WHEREAS, the proposed project will not be adverse to the public health,
safety or general welfare of the community, nor detrimental or injurious to the
surrounding properties and improvements;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the South San Francisco Planning Commission
hereby recommends that the City Council adopt General Plan Amendment GP-84-26 as
shown on the attached map (Exhibit "A") and described in the attached narration

JUNE 27, 1984]
9. Gateway Boulevard Extension. The Gateway Boulevard Extension
project, located between East Grand Avenue and South Airport
Boulevard, will provide an additional north-south Major
Arterial thoroughfare between the Gateway Project, South
Airport Boulevard and San Francisco International Airport.
This project will contain four travel lanes and a median
divider. It should help alleviate some of the traffic
volumes along a portion of Highway 101 and in the downtown
a rea.
Policy 83a The Gateway Boulevard Extension project, located between East Grand
Avenue and South Airport Boulevard, should be constructed in conjunc-
tion with the Gateway Project no later than 1990.
