CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING
JACK DRAGO
WHEREAS, in October, 1951 Jack Drago was employed as a Firefighter with the
City of South San Francisco, elevated to Captain in 1955, Battalion Chief in
19~2, Fire Marshal in 197~, and having demonstrated his outstanding leadership
abilities, became Fire Chief in 1950~ and
WHEREAS, Fire ChiefDrago is retiring on December 28, 1954 after faithfully
serving the City of South San Francisco for thirty-three {$$) years~ and
WHEREAS, during his four (~) year tenure as Chief, he has implemented programs
which have upgraded the time and performance standards of the Fire Department,
and have financially benefited the City of South San Franciscol and
WHEREAS, ChiefDrago earned his Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration
at the University of San Franciscol and
WHEREAS, he has attended various seminars and conferences related to fire
safety in buildings, air crash, earthquake, arson, fire safety in high rise
buildings, management and command, and hazardous materials, and is the recipient
of the 1925 South San Francisco Chamber of Commerce Fire Prevention Awardl and
WHEREAS, he is a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs~
California and San Mateo County Fire Chiefs Association~ Bay Area Fire Forum~
National Fire Protection Association~ a Charter member of Local 1507 Fire Fighters
Union~ Past President of the South San Francisco Widows and Orphans Association,
and a past member of the Fire Marshals of North America Association~ and
WHEREAS~ he has served on various County and regional hazardous materials
~ommittees~ P.T.A. and Booster Clubs and is an officer of the Buri Burl Home-
oWners Association~ and an active member in the Sons of Italy and South San
Francisco Rod and Gun Club~ and
WHEREAS~ Jack and his lovely wife Jackie have raised two sons and two
daughters~ and
WHEREAS~ Jack Drago's dream of retirement is to remain active and pursue
his hobbies of painting and drawing~ and
WHEREAS~ he has helped protect the City of South San Franciscofor thirty-
three ($$) years~ and his dedication to justice~ fairness and high morals are
in the highest tradition of the Fire Oepartment~
NOW~ THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that it does hereby express appreciation to Jack Drago for his dedi-
cated services to the City of South San Francisco and does order this Resolution
incorporated in the official records of the City as this Council's expression of
appreciation and its wishes for his, long and happy retirement.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced
and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a
re§ular meeting held on the 12th day of December , 19 84,
by the following vote:
