CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING
ANDR~W PETER RODONDI
WHEREAS, born and raised in the City of South San Francisco, Andrew Peter
Rodondi is retiring on February ?, 1585 as Equipment Maintenance Supervisor,
after devoting thirty ($0) years of service to the City~ and
WHEREAS, he majored in Auto Mechanics while attending San Mateo High Trade
School, receiving a trade certificate from the California Apprentice Council in
1548j and furthered his education by completing a course with the California
State Department of Education in Vocational Educational Teaching in 15G8, as
well as completing training courses in Public Works Equipment Management with
the American Public.Works Association and in Police Transportation Management
with the University of California at Berkeleyl and
WHEREAS, from 1555 through 1574, Andrew completed numerous Motor Vehicle
Maintenance courses, offered by the Institute of Transportation and Traffic
Engineering~ and
WHEREAS, Andrew was first employed with the City of South San Francisco on
February 1, 1555 as a City Mechanic, was elevated to Automotive Mechanic Super-
visor on July 1, 1550, and with his mechanical abilities became Equipment
Maintenance Supervisor one year later~ and
WHEREAS, he displayed great initiative and ingenuity by conceiving of and
implementing a program to convert all City vehicles to Liquid Propane Gas (LPG),
thereby giving better vehicle performance and reducing pollutants in the air~
and
WHEREAS, Andrew Rodondi originated the Vehicle Repair Facility & Shop, and
Maintenance Program in the City, later setting up the Vehicle Replacement &
Rental Rate Program, and furthered his contribution by proposing the purchase
of used cars from fleet rental firms for City usel and
WHEREAS, he served on the City's Central Safety Committee from ISGO through
1984, serving as Chairman from 1975 through 1980~ and
WHEREAS, he has also shown interest in preserving historic resources by
recommending restoration of the 1916 Seagraue Fire Truck~ and
WHEREAS, Andrew Rodondi's plans for retirement include remaining activel
helping support groups for people with Al~heimer's Oisease~ staying involved
with LPG; and enjoying life by pursuing his hobbies of fishing, hunting, garden-
ing and woodworking~
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RNSOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that it does hereby ezpress appreciation to Andrew Peter Rodondi for
his dedicated services to the City of South San Francisco and does order this
Resolution incorporated in the official records of the City as this Council's
ezpression of appreciation and its wishes for his long and happy retirement.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced
and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a
reqular meeting held on the 9th day of January , 1985 ,
by the following vote:
