A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
Tt!E CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO DECLARING
ITS INTFS~TI0!: TO IMPROVE A PORTION OF
~HESTNUT AVEI~UE ~2~D A PORTION OF EUCALYPTUS
AVENU!i IN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FR~NCISC0.
WHEREAS, public interest and convenience require that the work and im-
provement hereinafter described should be done: and
'~'~[~REAS, in the opinion of the Board of Trustees of the City of South
San Francisco, said contemplated work and improvement is, and is hereby declared
to be of more than local or ordinary public benefit;
L'0W, THEREFORE, resolved by the Board of Trustees of the City of South
San ~'rancisco that it is the intention of said Board to order the fOll~ving work
and im]?rovenent to be done in the said City, to-wit:
SECTION 1:
That the portion of Chestnut Avenue for a v~idth of twenty-four (24) feet,
lying twelve (12) feet on each side of the center-line of CheStnut Avenue'and
extending from the northerly line of Grand ~venue to the northerly boundary line of
said City of ?outh San FranciSco, be improved by gradihg the same for the full length
and width thereof, and that a portion of said strip of ChestnUt Avenue, for the full
length thereof and twenty (20) feet wide, lying ten (10) feet on each side of said
centerline of said Chestnut Avenue, be further improved by constructing header boards
o~'~ both sides of s~id~l~.st mentioned portion of Chestnut Avenue and re-macad~:~izing
sa~d last mentioned I~ortion of said Chestnut Avenue with a waterbound rock macada:~
pavement two (2) inches in thickness, measured before compaction, and by construct-
ing upon such macadam psver~ent betw~een such header boards, a Durite a~phaltic concrete
surface ]~ave~::ent three (Z) inches in thickne~,s excepting, however, that, upon a strip
of '~aid last mentioned ]~ortion of Chestnut Avenue thirty (~0) inches in width and
e~.:tending seventeen hundred and Zen (1710) feet northerly along said Chestnut Avenue
from the northerly line of Gra~,d Avenue, at the location show'n upon the plans herein-
after mentioned, such water-~ound rock macadam; pavement shall be constr~ted to a
thickness of si:[ (6) inches, massacred after compaction.
~ECTION 2:
That all that Fortion of the roadway of the inter.'~ection of Grand Avenue and
Che?Znut Avenue lying between the northerly edge of the ex.isting asphaltic concrete
pavement, in said intersection, and the northerly ~ine of Grand ~venue be improved
by. ~?r~a~ ~-'ing t..~e s~me hnd by constructinF._ thereon a water-bound rock ma.c~dan~ psve~,ent
si:: (6) inches in thickness, measured ~:fter compaction, and by constructing upon such
macadar pavement a I~rite asphaltic concrete surface pave~.:ent three (5) inches' in t,hickness.
SECTION Z:
That ail that port~on of the roadway of the intersection of'~.,liller Avenue and
Chestnut Avenue, lying between the easterly edg~ of the pave~.ent herebefore proposed to
be con'~tructed on Chestnut Avenue and the easterly line of ~'Ii.~ler Avenue, be i~:proved

fECTION 4:
That the roadway of Eucalyptus Avenue from thenortherly line of Miller AvenUe ~to
s line drawn across said Eucalyptus Avenue, at right angles and at a distance of one
hundred forty (140) feet northerly therefrom, be improved .by grading% the sar e, for the
±'u]~ length thereof and for the ~'u]l width between the e~.isting 'curbs, and by cmstru~t-
in? thereon a v~'ater-bound rock macadam paver..ent four (4) inches thick, measured after
compact_~on, and by constn~.cting u~on such ~:mcad~,,~ pave~':ent a Ik~rite as!h~] tic concrete
surface pave~:ent two (2) inches in thickness.

file in the office of the City Clerk, to which plans, profi]e~' and specifications refer-
ence is hereby made for a fuji description of said work and for the location ~d o:~:tent
o~' the work t-o be done hero.der and for a particular description of the bestiaries of the

"Durite Asphalt bor~psny's Durite asphaltic ~icense Mixture Agreement" entered into by
said. n. osrd of Truste~s with Durite Asph~:]t Company on the ~th day of June, 151E6, smd'now
on ~'i~_e in the office of the City Clerk of said City of South San Francisco, U. S. Letters
Patent having been granted to said Durite Asphalt Company for said pave~aent, and the con-
tractor will be required to procure said asphaltic concrete surface mi-~.ture from said
Durite Asphalt Company as provided in said Durite A,~lphaltic License ~',[i::ture AgrePment.
And said Board of Trustees does hereby deterr_~ine and decla~re that said
proposed work and improver:..ent is of r'~ore than local or ordinary public benefit and
w:~.]] af:i~ect and benefit the lands and ~istrict hereinafter described, which said
district is hereby declared to be the distrdct benefitted by said work and ira-
prey ,[~cnt and that therefore the entire costs and e:,:pensez of said work and i~aprove-
ment shall be and are hereby made ch~geable against and shall be assessed upon said

Scving, excepting and encluding from s~id di'~'trict all public streets,
avenues and al!oy~~, lanes, courts and places included and contained.
Notice is hereby gi~;en that serial bonds to represent ~mpaid as~essr~ents
and bear internist at the rate of sev~n (7) per cent per annum will be is~ued here-
under in the manner specified in the "Im?rovement Bond Act of 1915" and the amend.,~nts
thermate, the last in~'tallment of whi~h bonds sha?l mature nine (9) years from the
£nd day of July next succeeding ten (10) monl. hs from their date.
"~he Enterprise", a weekly newspaper published and circulated in said City
of South San ~r~cisco, is hereby de~ ignated as the newspaper in which this resolut-
ion of intention shall be published, and the City Clerk is ~ereby directedto cause
this resolution ol~ intention robe published by two (~) inzertions in the manner and
fo~m~ required by law.
The Superintendent of Street.'' shall ca,me to be con'.picuously posted along
the line of said contemplated work or improvement, at not more then Three Hundred
(300) fe:'~t in distance apart, and along all the open streets within said district
and in front of all tho property liable to be assessed and not more than three
hundred (Z00) feet in d~Ptanco .~part, but not !es~ than three (Z) in all in each
street in said district, notices of the pas,' age of thi: re~' olution of intention,
in the manner and for~-', required by the "Im~.rovem,:~nt Act of 1911" and the ar~end-
r':ents thereto.
i~otice is h~reby ~Jven that on ~,1onday, the 28th day of June, 1926, at the
hour of 7:30 o'clock P. I'.I. in the Ch~mber of' said Board of Trustees of the City of
South San ~rauci.':co, any and all persons having any objection." to tho proposed work
and improw~.ment may appear before said Board of Trustees and show cause why said
proposed improvement .~hou_~d not be carried out in accordance with this resolution.
Escept as hereinbefore provided, all of the ~erein pror. osed work shall be
done in pursuence of an act of the Legislatureof tho ~'Btate of California, designated
as the "Improvement Act of 1911", approved April ?, 191], and the amendments thereto.
