HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 168-1927A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 0i~' SOUTH SAB FRANCISCO PROVIDING FOR THE ACQUISITION AND C01~STRUCTION OF A FIRE ALA~,[ £Y?T.'q~ IN SAIE CITY OF S0~TTH SAN RESOLVED by the City Council oi' the City of South San F~ancisco that ppublic interest and convenience require that said City should acquire and construct the appatatus and equipment hereinafter mentioned for the purpose of a fire alarm system in said City of South San Francisco as follows: Wire,cross-arms.insulators and pole hardwar, e; a central fire alarm station and the apparatus ~nd equipment therefor; .~orty (40) fi~e alarm boxes,and and electric siren. All sais apparatus and equiPm~nt shall conform with the plans and s?ecifications therefor filed in the office of the City Clerk of the City of South San F_ ancisco,on the 22nd. day of December,192?,which plans and .specifications are hereby adopted ~or said pmrDose. The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish for two 12) we,oks in "The Enterprise and ~he South San Francisco Journal", a news?aper of gen'~ral circulation printed and published in said City of South San Francisco,the following notice inviting sealed proposals or bids fir furn_~shing sauch ap aFparatus and equipment hereinafter mentioned and for performing the construction work hereniafter mentioned. (1) Wire,Cross-arms, insulator qnd pole hardware: (2) Erecting and inetalling such wire,cross arms,insulators and pole hardware on poles and 'other pla~es in Said City of South San-Francisco,as shown upon the l~laus and specification~ hereinafte mentioned; (Z) The Construction of a central fire alarm station,and f~rnishing and instglling all apparatus and equipment therefor; (z,) Furnishing and installing forty (A0) firem alarm boxes; %5). Furnishing and installing an electric siren. All said materials,equipment,apparatus and all work to be perform in connection with the con~truction and installationthereof and the construction of.s~id!csntral fire alarm station shhll be in strict comT~liance with the plan~ and specifications adopted by said City O~uncil therefor,on the 22nd. da~ of Decemeber,1927, and now on file in the office of the City Clerk. Wherever wires or other ]~.ortion~ of said apparatus and equipment are to be erected or installed upon any poles in the public streets or other pnblic ~lac~-:s in said. Cdty of South San Francisco,now owned or leased by Pacific ~as and Electric Company,a corporation,such erection ~.nd installation sh~ll be done under the supervisioh and to the satisfaction of said 'acific Gas and E Electric Com?any,and the successful bidder shall pay a reasonable cost of the supervision of such construction,erection and installation work. The bids for ,~ach of the above items indicated as (1),12),(Z),(4), and (5) shall be seperate but any bidder may sub mit a bid in a lump sum for any two or more of said items. The bidder to whom the contract may be awzzded will be required to execute to said City a bond in the sum of Twenty Thousand 1520,000.00) Dollars,with spree corporation,licensed to transact buisness in the State of California,as surety thereon and conditioned to save said Pacific ~as and' Electric Company and said $ity of South San F~ancisco,and each of them,harmless from all. 1Tability for any accident which may occur in connection with the ~'ork of erecting and installin~ wires and other equip~.'~ent on said poles. Such bidder will also be required to e:~ecute to said City of South San Fra:~cisco a bond for the Zaithfull performance of his work in an amount equal to twenty-five per cent of the amouht of his ~mdertak~n~ with at least two (2) responsible sureties in the full ~.mount of his bid each; and will also De~r~quired,befo~'e entering ~pon the work,to furnish a good and suf£ieient bond a~s required by an act of the Legislature of the State of California ap:'roved i'~ay 10th,1919,en'titled "An Act to secure the payment of the claims of ?ers~ns employe~ by con2rac$or~ in t upon public works ,and the claim of persons who furnish materials ,supplies,~eams,implement~ or machinez used or consumed by such contractors in the performance of such work~,and t:rescribing the duties of certain public ofl'icers ~vith reference thereto;" and will also be required to e:.~hibit to said City Council a policy ~f insurance show ng that said Bidder is insured against loss through accident or negli~?nce under the pr~,visions of the "Workmen's Co~,~-ensation ,Insurance ~nd Safety Act of the SZ2~te of California." The contract must be entered into in comxliance with and subject ~p the conditions i~posed by Section 65Zc of the Penal Code of the State of California. Each ~'r0yosal must be acco~'~'~a~,.'ied with a certified check upon a s¢Ivont bank of the State of Calii~ornia ,]~ayable to the City of ~outh San ~'rancisco in ar~ a.~ount not ].ess than ten (10) per csnt of the aggregate of the bid,upon the condition that if ',.he proposals be acepted a~d th,~ contract awarded,a~nd the bidder shall fail and neglect to e.~ecute the contract, the sum mentioned in said check shall be !iquida~ed damages for s-ch failure and neglect and shall be f~r£eited and paid into treasuary of said City of South San Francisco. Sealed pro,~.~osals or bids will be delivered to the City Cl~rk on or before ?:Z0 o'clockp.m. on ~,~onday,the 9th. day of Jauuary, l~.~8. Ail seal.ed pro?osals or bids will be opehed by said City~ Council in ?ublic session on the 9th. da~? of anuary,19£8,at ?:Z0 o'clock p.m. in the Council Chamber of said City Council.
